im on Windows Vista.

You poor soul.

Before you go much further, you need to deal with your Vista problem. Unless you take certain steps, you will be unable to use console commands and unable to use TES CS to work with mods.

You need the mod "Ring of Console" to use console commands.

To use TES CS, you need to move Oblivion out of the default directory in Program Files. There are other options, but I believe this is the least disruptive or even dangerous. Some fixes expose your computer to things like viruses and hackers. There is a lot of documentation on the Internet you can read about your problem.

bbens instructions for reinstalling Oblivion will give you most of the information you need. Like you, I have Vista and believe me when I say that I agree with David Brasher. Save yourself a lot of headaches and follow bben46's instructions.

I just don't get where everyone has problems in Vista. (I should edit that to say problems in Vista where Oblivion is concerned.. other things drive me bananas) I have Windows installed on C, and everything else on D. Oblivion is in a folder called D:\Games\Oblivion and the CS I believe needs to install itself there as well to find the Oblivion files. Never had to set anything up in any special way. *shrug*
