7zip or RAR Into ESP is Not Working

How do you change a RAR or 7zip file into an esp, or esm? I already tried it with a remodeling modification but it did not work. I have probably 2 gigs of mods that are either 7zip or RAR and I cannot change them to esp or esm.

When I changed a 7zip file to esp using the properties and just writing in the new file extension it works, but then when I try to enable the modification it writes, "This is not a valid Oblivion plugin or master file."

I can understand changing the file extension manually was a bad idea, there is obviously something internally that needs to be fixed.

Oh sorry, I meant a 7z file, the only way I can play a modification is if it is an ESP or ESM file.

NO!, you need to unpack it (renaming will not work), 7z, rar, zip and others are packed files... you may want to use the 7zip program which unpacks all the mentioned formats, is free and can be find here, in the Nexus.

All actual files and folders will be inside that xyz.7z file (ESP, textures, meshes and everything else... INCLUDING THE DOCUMENTATION you should not fail to read). Most of times you can unpack directly into the /data folder.

I have a set of help files for people who are not computer geeks and are new to mods. They include downloading, extracting (unzipping) installing and activating mods. I have included a simple mod to practice on and instructions for installing and using 7-zip. If you are interested, click on the highlighted link below to be taken to the site where they are kept. I recommend starting with #1 and working your way through them.

If you use them I would appreciate some feedback as to what needs improvement and what works for you. Please be honest and don't worry about hurting my feelings with criticism as I have a thick skin.
