Oblivion with friends

The idea for making a multiplayer mode for Oblivion has been around for a long time but alas it just ain't meant to be. It's a really tempting idea to have but the game is just not made to be that way.

There were a number of past attempts to make a multiplayer mode for Oblivion but the projects were all abandoned due to lots of incompatibilities and bugs as mentioned by Sarya above. If you search for Oblivion Multiplayer on Google, you can find a lot of references to these long abandoned projects.

i wonder just what kind of brick wall is keeping this from happening cause i would think that this game has so much for co-op and other such... fast travel, sneaking, lock picking, and etc aren't needed to be done at the same time but having one person unlock a door and another two slashing up the zombies and skeletons coming for you all with a mage throwing around a few buffs heals and destruction spells for good measure...

the brick wall is there's plenty of multiplayer games out there. If you want to play one with your friends select one go on line and play.I love Oblivion as it is,I love to mod it,which we will lose with a multi-player.I'm selfish when it comes to giving back to the oblivion players some of my talent by enriching their game with mods. Seems some think only of what "they" want and not what "they" can give back!.

believe you me i only wish i could mod... but unfortunately i am not 1337 enough to know how to mod things... i can only do tiny tiny tiny things in tescs... and even that stuff i generally bomb in. my problem is i honestly just don't know the ins and outs of modding...

well, i had this in mind for a few days now.

What number of active actors does the engine of the gaem support? 10?

well someone could create an arena like mod, in which you enter, select the gear (armor, weapons) that you get there (this will avoid those "different" mods problem) and fight alongside 4 friends against other 5 players in a different team. Ofc it could get more complex with some sort of ranking, but just a normal match would be enough.

i think, if someone's ever gonna work on a mulitplayer oblivion, then this is the most simple way to do it.

i hope you know what i mean...

Not worth it, in my opinion. Might as well go play Quake or any other deathmatch type of game, if that is all that it could achieve.

Maybe this is better. Let Bethesda focus on the single player aspect of the game but make it easier to mod a co-op style missons.

uhm antoher idea: this is acctualy more suitable for consoles and for TES V: bethesda could to an option, that a second player could join in the game and take control of a companion of some sort.

i dunno XD

i realy think that the arena think would be fun tough.

Co-op and some sort of gladiator style Arena Deathmach would actually be pretty cool. It would perhaps be very difficult to integrate into Oblivion, but for any future games this could easily be incorporated. They could at least have some unique co-op quests. Maybe even counter-op. Mods wouldn't be too much of an issue, as even now there are infrastructures to support individual mods in online environments. It could be truly amazing if done right.
