Dalz
I've come across a few posts where people had this same problem, but their solutions were disabling mods that I'm not running. I'm hoping someone might be able to see a problem that I don't (I'm still fairly new to modding...). One thing I did notice was that even though I'm using the +5 attributes mod, the level up screen did not give me +5 for all 3 stats, so apparently that mod at the least is not functioning correctly and at worst may be the culprit, but I'm not sure how to fix it if it is. Here's my load order (is there any way to set up 2 columns to shorten the post up a bit?): • 00 Oblivion.esm • 01 EnhancedWeather.esm [Version 1.2] • 02 Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm • 03 Francesco's Optional New Items Add-On.esm • 04 Cobl Main.esm [Version 1.71] • 05 Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm [Version 1.34] • 06 Mart's Monster Mod.esm [Version 3.7b1] • 07 TamrielTravellers.esm [Version 1.39c] • 08 FCOM_Convergence.esm [Version 0.9.9a7] • 09 Kvatch Rebuilt.esm • 0A bookplacing.esm [Version 1] • 0B CM Partners.esm • 0C DIM Elves Of Lineage II Retex.esm • • • TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp • • • TNR - dezdimona
General Load-Order GuidelinesHere are the guidelines that I adhere to, personally. ~ Unofficial Oblivon Patch should always be first on the list. The fixes are great, but most aren't essential, so if a mod overwrites them its not a big deal, and the fixes have the potential for screwing up other mods if loaded later. ~ Offical Content (DLC's) should be loaded last, until you complete all quests associated with them (that includes buying all furniture for the houses and whatnot). Once they're complete, they can be safely moved up in the list. This is especially important for Knights of the Nine, which will have some fairly major problems unless loaded last (unless you get the UOP for KotN) ~ Major overhaul mods (OOO, Frans, MMM) should be loaded near the end. That gives you the most complete experience with any of those particular mods. It also lets you carefully choose which other mods to load afterwards... only move mods that you know will conflict and that you want the changes from. For example, I have Improved Soul Gems below OOO because I know that OOO changes the icons of some of the SG's, and ISG needs to be below to show through. Some people will recommend putting larger mods first, but personally I disagree. There are a number of mods out there that make minor tweaks, and loading after a large mod will end up completely overwriting a chunk from one of the bigger mods because of the way conflicts work in Oblivion (even one minor change will take precedence over the entire record... for example, simply tweaking the speed of a weapon can cause every stat of that weapon to be retained to vanilla levels if loaded later). So basically, it stacks up like this... Oblivion.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch<Minor Mods / DLC's (Post-Completion)><Major Overhaul Mod/Mods><Mods that specifically conflict with overhauls and need to take precedence><DLC's (Pre-Completion)>Note: If using Mayu's Overhaul Mod. I recommend loading it after OOO or MMM Expanded Load-Order Guidelinesby dev_akm I would extend this to include: Oblivion.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch<Weather/Environment/Sound Mods><Minor Mods/New Items/Houses/DLC's (Post-Completion)><Major Overhaul Mods><Mods that specifically conflict with overhauls and need to take precedence><DLC's (Pre-Completion)><Quests><Compatibility Patches/UOMP/Merged Leveled Lists> And a special-case warning for Knights.esp (Knights of the Nine) -- you may not be able to move it earlier than some other mods (some people have had problems after moving it before OOO, for example). That's basically the structure I use and I have 140+ mods working well together. Another way of describing this (posted by DMan77):....Oblivionunoffical patchDeeper realism mods that add sights and soundsadded content like weapons/itemsgameplay changes, like 'must eat and sleep'The OOO typethe 'new begining' type mod................................................................................................... Dalz
Thanks dezdi. Unfortunately, unless I'm missing something that's pretty much how I have things set up. I let BOSS adjust the order first and then went in and made a few changes manually. I also tried removing the +5 attribute mod to see if that was, in fact, the conflict but it's still crashing on level up. This is the first level up for this char, and I've read some older posts about problems on the first level up because of a scripted event, but later reports seemed to indicate this particular problem has been fixed. Any other thoughts on what might be the problem? Thanks for the assistance.
MikeHibs
Does it still crash if you disable the mod, then level up?
Khet
Really Dez, constantly copy pasting load order guidelines isn't always the answer. Seriously. Dalz - A couple mods jump out at me. One is the +5 attribute (which you've already said you've disabled) but have you tried to disable it THEN start a new game, then hit advlevel in the console and see if you still crash? The other one is your Menu Escape. Might be a bit of a long shot but to me it sounds like there's potential for crash with it.
Dalz
Thanks for the responses guys. Disabling the +5 mod didn't help, but I went ahead and rebuilt the bash patch just as an additional check. I leveled up and it froze again like the half a dozen other times as I've tried adjusting load orders and what not. (The initial symptom was to freeze for several seconds and then crash.) However, just as I was about to tab out and kill the process it unfroze and the level up finally completed... I'll test another level up and see if it's resolved for good now. Just wish I could pinpoint what the actual culprit was. Heh, I hate not knowing. :P

Just wish I could pinpoint what the actual culprit was. Heh, I hate not knowing. :PThe culprit, much probably, is the savegame under so many load order changes. PS: With each load order change many items will have somewhat modified properties, some may just 'disappear' and others come to life. The save game will expect to find the objects it refers. Most of times the engine will deal it the issue without troubles, but a few may cause serious problems, like stalling, freezing, ctds ... Programing a load order is something that must be done carefully, before saving the games. The problems just tend to get worse with so many mods as showed in your list. Dalz
Just an update here. I'm sort of able to get past the leveling prompt now, but here's what happens. I choose my skill-ups and click Exit. The game then stops responding for about 20 seconds. Every now and then it will crash after the 20 seconds but the rest of the time the level-up completes and the game responds once again. It's not ideal, but at least I can progress... heh I haven't tried creating a new char/save file yet (tonight being the first chance I've had to play again since my post), but I may take the time to give that a shot just to see if the problem persists. Thanks to all who have posted -- I definitely appreciate it.
Khet
If you're running Wyre Bash might I suggest doing the bloat removal cleanup on the saved file? Might be a bit of a long shot since I believe bloat is mostly caused from the creation of items and enemies but could help, especially if you change your load order quite often.
