I agree with the boycott, If I were interested in the game, I'd join you. Personally though, I don't think it will make much of a difference, there are too many spoiled kids out there with parents who will buy them the latest toys just to shut them up for a few hours a day. Enough that the people like you and I who actually have to earn the money we spend on luxuries are totally outnumbered.

umm yea everyone that wants to wait for the price to come down in mf2 it wont, think about it cod4mf came out four years ago, it has gotten game of the year ever since, and if you go to gamestop right now, well they would be closed... but if you went when they were open you would have to pay $55 usd, for one new and $35 usd used.

World of Warcraft 3 is still on the shelves at your local Walmart.

People as we all know, you're paying to play it first and to play it BEFORE your mind is washed with the world's opinion. It's almost as bad as everyone who bought that piece of crap Legend because of the hype in advertisement. When the word got out, that game wasn't worth a dime.

It's gonna be a blockbuster again. It's impossible for the formula to go wrong this time. Everything is in order and everything has a bigger budget. Now granted most of the staff has transferred but the feeling and the common sense will prevail at Infinity Ward. It'll be worth your money. More so than probably anything else released in the same month...

Yeah, that's what everybody thought about Hellgate: London :P

Anyway, I agree with you, I doubt they'd be able to do this one wrong. If anything, it won't be worse than the previous CoD titles.

70 pounds for a game?

It isn't worth it, period. I don't really care for the idea of the first Modern Warfare game anyway, so I'll not buy it anyway.

Boycotting it, especially for a while may just get them to think twice about overcharging for a game.

lol people always have "other" ways of getting games.... and they just encouraged more people do so

You included?

Piracy is cannot be justified in any way. If you don't have the money for a game, you can't have it. Gaming is a privilege, not a right. I hear far too many people saying they pirate games because they can't afford them. If you don't have enough money for a McDonald's burger then you don't steal someone else's burger. Piracy is theft, so it's illegal. The end.

I just have to say - the idea that piracy = theft is a common misconception. You are not stealing anything, you are accessing a piece of information without a license to do so, which is totally different. The legal term is copyright infringement. Its exactly the same as, say, photocopying a textbook which says you aren't allowed to photocopy it. It is not the same as stealing a textbook from the bookshop.

Anyway, Billypnats has a good point. Piracy is a good indicator of whether a game has problems or not. If a game is encumbered with horrible DRM - piracy levels go up. If a game is released in America six months before being released in Europe - piracy rates increase. If a game is massively overpriced - piracy rates increase. Yes, there will always be some people who just want something for free, so there will always be a certain amount of piracy. However if a game has issues like the ones I just mentioned, then many people will just pirate it, so as to avoid spyware DRM, to avoid having to wait six months, or to avoid having to pay extortionate amounts of money.

Incidentally, while I agree anything more than £20-25 is too much for a game, does anyone remember the good old days of cartridge era? Games went for a similar price back then, I remember Street Fighter 2 went for £59.99 when it was new, and games for the PS1 regularly went for £50 or so. So £50 for a game isnt that unusual, no matter how unreasonable it may be.

EDIT: I should probably add, just in case, that I have no intention whatsoever of pirating this game. Partly because I'm not a pirate, and partly because chances are it will be a terrible game.

il be honest, i downloaded a game once. what the hell is the point? you get 0 features, no support, no online game play. its B/S.

it takes me 1 hour tops to go to town, pay £30 for a game and get home. it takes alot longer to D/L a game. and the whole "cant afford it " is B/S, get a job. i spend £70 getting pissed 1 night a week. and millions of people do that. that's 2 games right there. before the internet or people with consoles, if they cnt afford something THEY SAVE UP lol.

saving

Noun

a reduction in the amount of time or money used

Anyway, Billypnats has a good point. Piracy is a good indicator of whether a game has problems or not.

or a much faster approach = Reviews, playable demos, forums, game play videos.

im not even going to get onto the moral side of it, whether its right or wrong, its just plain pointless.
