Syntax1985
ive been looking at the MX-518, but all the ones ive seen seem to look liek theyve been beaten with with a hammer and sustained gun shots, http://myego.cz/img/razer-logitech/mx518.jpg is it possible to get one with a normal smooth finish? LHammonds
ive been looking at the MX-518, but all the ones ive seen seem to look liek theyve been beaten with with a hammer and sustained gun shots, http://myego.cz/img/razer-logitech/mx518.jpg is it possible to get one with a normal smooth finish?Ha! That is the EXACT one that I have right now! The finish actually is smoother...it is just a texture trick. I got this one because there were a TON of mice lined up in a store I visited and this one fit my hand the best. The DPI switch was mildly interesting but my brain never "engaged" to think about it while playing. If you have to quickly increase the resolution to get a good snipershot in, then you need to improve your flick-n-shoot technique. I found myself accidentally changing the res in the beginning until I taught my fingers to stay away from them. The wheel on top is the best-feeling wheel that I have tried so far too. The MS Wheels are sluggish whereas this one has a kind of notched grove so you can feel the wheel while it is moving yet it does not impede the motion...it is very easy to operate. It is also one of the longest lasting opticals I have ever owned. Most lazer mice tend to just stop working on me but surprisingly, this one is still going strong. I got mine just after this model was initially released so that'll give ya a clue how long it has lasted so far. EDIT: None of the laser mice that broke on me have ever been abused or dropped. The light mechanism would simply stop on all of them. Even the ones we have at work. They are, hands down, the most replaced mice we have ever used. This particular mouse (wired / optical) is the only mouse of this type that has lasted this long...which is what has impressed me. But then again, a single mouse will not change the fact that so many opticals tend to die faster than their mechanical counter-parts. Thor.
I had my laser mouse for almost 2 years and it hasn't failed me yet. Also mine lasted longer then any optical mouse i have ever owned so far. i bet it would last as long as your pc, 5 or more years. If you treat it well. very much worth the money. Syntax1985
sounds really good, im defiantly going to look into it abit more, if im honest i got put off instantly from the look, but if it dosnt feel like what it looks like then im more then interested. and as mice go, its great spec vs cash as well. LHammonds
if it dosnt feel like what it looks like then im more then interested. It is 100% smooth. It is just paint work...similar to paint jobs on cars that make it look like torn metal or bullet holes. I thought it was kinda cool since that is a similar trick with Oblivion modding. All textures use Bump Maps (Normal Maps...a.k.a "_n.dds" files) which can "fake" details in models that are not actually there. Oh, and something else you might not notice is that there is not a break or gap between the back of the mouse and the buttons. It is all one smooth surface. It is the only mouse I've had that did not have those grooves in the middle (which normally get filled up with gunk that requires cleanin every once in a while) LHammonds
