Meh. Screw followers. Especially K-9, who comes with Phalanx followers mod -- he needs a "HEEL! Down boy!" command, badly. Running off charging the fire ants I was trying to lure into mines.. cripes, mutt, you're supposed to be smarter'n the average dogmeat.

 

I always end up leaving followers behind, finding them more of a nuisance than a benefit. Although I must admit Fawkes's firepower did come in handy sometimes, and he did prove to be a valuable distraction sometimes too. After all, who's gonna notice a little pigtailed girl with a laser sniper, when a big ol' super mutant with a gatling laser pouring fire on them? :devil:

after playing fo3 to the end 4 times ,i went and got 7 companions clover/bitercup/ashley/kelsey/lucywest/amata/cherry ,

great mods worth a try kelsey is the best of the lot ,

who said once you play a game to the end its finished there are some awesome mods that lengthen fo3 adding more fun

Did Bethesda intend to use Sydney as a follower at first, because within the Geck I can find Sydney's Ultra SMG also as a follower weapon version?

Regarding the OP's question, with a no companion limit and a no karma check mods, I pretty much use anyone and everyone. Depending on my mod I'll go solo or with them.
