Need Help With Blender 2.6 Made Sword

Recommended Posts

I am not sure if this is the right place for this and apologize if it is not but I have been working on a sword using Blender 2.62 and it has taken forever and been a very bumpy road for me getting the sword to where it is now and yet I still can't get the model to work and in Skyrim.

I have searched for tutorials, I have PMed people that clearly know what they are doing and when they have responded and tried to direct me to tutorials I tried those too.

There probably isn't a Skyrim related blender weapon tutorial you can direct me to that I haven't already tried to use.

Everything has gotten me closer to my goal but nothing has gotten me past my current dead end. Every guide I have found is either missing information that it assumes you would know already and I don't, or is using software that I don't use like Cinema4d or 3Ds max.

Then I find out that 2.6x doesn't work and I need to move it to 2.49 so I tried that but again, guides on this typically don't explain things that I need explained.

I am confident that I did something(s) wrong and am just not grasping something that is probably basic but at this point I just want to get this thing working so I need help making my model work and able to appear and function inside Skyrim.

If you're willing to help me, please PM me and I will send you the appropriate files (or what I believe them to be) and hopefully we can go from there.

If I get the mod to where I want it to be and release it (as there is more to it than this part but this is the part that is the obstacle for me), I'll give you the proper credit of course but it is killing me to have gotten as far as I did with this and not be able to see the weapon I designed in the game.

I want to thank everyone in advance just for checking this post out and appreciate any assistance attempted.

Sincerely,

Tons

So much text but only few info...you have to be more specific

IF you already have a finished mesh of a static weapon, exported as .obj and textures - you can use the weapon tutorial in my signature and just skip the modeling/texturing part - the rest is universal.

And, as always, i recommend to upload files directly in the opening post - most people don't bother to ask and wait for response when asked for help.

greetings

Hmmm, i'm guessing those tutorials in linked in that PM didnt work out for you? So it is save for me to assume that you thried the "Export to .3ds, import .3ds into nifskope" thing? Because that's how i've been maing weapons for 2 years now.. >.> Never needed nifscipt untill recently. (Bloody vertex paint!)

Thanks for your responses and I apologize for not being more clear but I have done everything but something I have done must be wrong because I can't get the weapon to show up in game. Whatever it is you would do just before you would try to put a weapon in Skyrim, I have done and I have tried several different ways of getting it to work and or show up in game.

I don't know what I did wrong or where I went wrong so at this point, I'd like to send my files to someone willing to take a look at it. Preferably someone who uses Blender as it would be great if they can explain to me what I did incorrectly.

I can understand and respect those who won't help because I don't just put a link to my work in the forums, but I have no desire to just put my work up for everyone to look at (well not in its current form anyway).

I've also run into your tutorial quite a few times in my search and I just don't find it useful for me. Despite it appearing to be a great tutorial, you use programs that I don't use and if the problems are due to what I have done in Blender, that tutorial just can't help me.

The tutorials aren't working out for me Urwy. I am certain that despite what my sword looks like to me, I must have executed something wrong to where it doesn't work. I appreciate what you tried to do and I really wanted to do this myself initially (which is why it took me a LONG time to get to this point of posting in the forums) but after so long of staring at various tutorials over and over, getting hopeful that this will be the day I'll succeed only to fail again, I just want to send the link to someone and hopefully finally see my creation (even though it is rough lol) in the game.

"Despite it appearing to be a great tutorial, you use programs that I don't use and if the problems are due to what I have done in Blender, that tutorial just can't help me."

As i mentioned before (same as Urwy did): Blender has got NOTHING to do with it, static weapons like a sword don't need NIF plugin and export...

All you have to do is load your weapon in Blender, export it as .obj and then you can simply import it to NifSkope and hook it up in the creation Kit. As I'm doing it since the release of Skyrim...same way as Urwy does as well...as shown in the tutorial. All the other programs doesn't matter, the import process is the same thing.

Though, if you want to make it more complicated than it is or just want someone else to do it... ;)

...possibly you already made a mistake when modeling it.

This is what I've been saying from the beginning lol. Thanks for trying to help man and like I said, your tutorial looks solid.

Now it should be more clear why I wanted someone who uses Blender as I am not just looking for someone to solve the issue but hopefully be able to explain where I went wrong so I can be able to do this stuff on my own going forward.

That's why i said you have to be more specific..NOW i could imagine that it COULD be a problem with the mesh since even your .obj doesn't work (at least when you made no mistake when you imported it to Nifskope).

Before it sounded more like an EXPORT issue when you exported it from Blender as NIF. Well okay then i'm out, good luck on that. greetings

Like I said, I appreciate you trying and apologized for not being more clear. I said what I knew from the beginning. I can't get this thing to work even though I have done and tried all steps and that something could be wrong at any stage of this.

If I knew more specifics than that, I probably wouldn't be here as that would mean I have a greater understanding of this than I do.

All I have now is a non working file and a dream LOL. That ain't much, but it's all I got and this is my last attempt to try to change that so I hope someone who uses Blender will be willing to take a look at this thing, solve the issues, and tell me where I screwed up so I can do this on my own going forward.

Your tutorial is exactly what I needed just not for the programs I use and I have not been able to find any blender weapon ones that are as complete and as thorough and in video format to help guide me to figure out where I might have gone wrong.
