RyanLP
Yeah, I'm kind of pissed off and curious at the same time. I jailbroke my 16GB iPod touch 2G 2.2.1, and yes I wasn't expecting it to be problem free, but I didn't expect something this bad. So anyways, I jailbroke my iPod and it worked fine for a few weeks until cydia disappeared so I couldn't add or delete anything. So I restored my iPod because other apps were getting messed up. So I figured if I restored it I could just jailbreak it again or leave it alone. That's when I noticed that the memory capacity decreased to like 14 GB. How can I delete the stuff that's stuck on there? Anyone had this problem?
LHammonds
I jailbroke my 16GB iPod touch 2G 2.2.1DoH! Sorry but everywhere I've read about doing a jailbreak, you have to be prepared to chunk it in the trash if you mess up. I don't think there are that many ipod users here, especially those that jailbreak their junk. You might get better results at ipod jailbreak sites. Good luck,LHammonds
JMeister
Have you tried restoring it again? Also are you still on 2.2.1 or did iTunes restore it to 3.0? (iTunes does it for free you know, if your iPod is f*xord) If 2.2.1 restore to 3.0 using any method you can find and rejailbreak. If 3.0 then just use the 3.0 jailbreak. I would linky the files you need but I'm not sure mods and admins would take to kindly and then they would smite me with their limitless power which is limited to this website. That was a mouthful. Good Luck,James. EDIT: Typos.
Syntax1985
dude ive messed my ipod so many times doing jailbreak, dont restore, factory wipe it via itunes. as for the 2gb, been using SSH? u might want to consider stuff you tranfered into the system folders Vir/media/ etc. factory reset should do the trick. p.s @ hammond, im not going to lay false claim that i know, without doubt jailbreaking is 100% safe, but seriously if only you knew how many times ive messed up and it still works :P JMeister, il check back 2mo, if u still cnt fix it maybe i can talk you through some of it via msn or something. LHammonds
Syntax1985, I have heard that if you have a jailbroken ipod, you should never uninstall more than 5 apps at a time and some apps that have preferences should be reset to default before being removed...otherwise there is a chance it could become "bricked" and not sync with the PC any longer or fail to boot. You also void your warranty the second you jailbreak it. Well, Apple won't know unless you try to have them fix it while it was jail broken. If it was working, you could restore it and I doubt they would ever know it was jail broken but the need to take it in under warranty and not being able to restore is a risk you would have to be willing to take. If its out of warranty, no big deal there. Using utilities such as ZiPhone can also brick it due to being an unstable application that does things it shouldn't. There are also issues about upgrading firmware that you need to be careful or it could cause your iPod/iPhone to turn into an expensive paperweight. I've also read somewhere about the need to turn off an apple auto-updater to keep it from being bricked that way too. FYI - Take everything I say with a grain of salt since I have not tried jailbreaking anything I own. LHammonds
Syntax1985
your prob right, as i said im just talking from personal experience. @ OP = when u restored, did u use a prior back up you already had or did u back via the 2.2.1 back up you downloaded to jailbreak your pod? RyanLP
Sorry for the late reply, I was in New Hampshire. But I did restore it because Cydia disappeared >:( and I was still on 2.2.1 on a backup that I had from before. But I jailbroke it right when I got my iPod so I'm not sure if I synced it first or not.So then I realized that the memory was gone and rejailbroke it. Then cydia just decided to break again! So here I am now haha. I upgraded it to 3.0 manually. Oh, and I did use SSH and stuff but all my poo went haywire so things would just close immediately. I think that I can use the command line thing to fix it, since I read somewhere to fix broken Cydia, you have to use a code to delete it then restore it or something. I don't know, weird stuff. I figured I'd get some people who were good with computers and maybe iPods here. Thanks for responding guys.
