What is the filename of that idle animation?

The npc just stands there, legs a few distance apart, and both hands at the side normally. You know if you have a custom mt_idle animation, right after that, this one plays, and it plays more than the mt_idle. It doesn't happen to the player, only to npcs/followers.

I don't use custom idle animation, only custom combat anims. But if you look in the CK's animations, most idles can be found in the NPC's nonCombat Idles.

 

And looking in the Vanilla animations files, there is an mt_idle_a_base.hkx and an mt_idle_b_base.hhkx, from what you describe it sounds very much like that.

 

An easy way to try them out to find out the one you're looking for is to create a test cell i the CK and get your character to play them with "playIdle" or "sendAnimationEvent". I can't say for sure, but I believe mt_idles are best played with "sendAnimationEvent".

Oh, ok, if you've never done used the CK before, that's going to be a lot of work to get there... Plus I've never modded animations myself, when I work with them I merely use the CK to "try them on".

 

Vanilla animations are in the meshes\actors\character\animations folder. In the same folder, you'll find two more folders for "male" and "female". There are mt_ animations in all 3 folders.

 

I guess you're trying to replace that anim with a custom one, is that it? If that's the case, it'd be faster for you to take a screenshot of the anim you're talking about and PM the custom anim's author to ask him/her for help?

I'm sure the idle animation is a vanilla one. I want to be able to replace it.

I have seen variations, there is also a hand on the hip animation.

All of these animations are the animations that plays after the mt_idle. The npc has no weapons or magic drawn. The npc will also face the player.
