camaro_69_327
I've followed camaro's advice and edited the file in Documents and changed the other bFloat back to 0, but now everything in the game world is black and all I can see are the eyes of other characters.Press [shift] + [Enter] menu for ENB...Find MIST....disable. OR it could be that the ENB is that dark..is it nighttime? mine was also that dark...lol...kinda scary too. But now it actually sounds like you do have ENB running...To check if ENB is running...[shift] + [F12] toggles ENB on /off Edited May 10, 2014 by camaro_69_327
Thyre
If you're using Mod Organizer your SkyrimPrefs file is in the ModOrganizer\profiles\profilename folderThank you... that was the real root of the problem, and solved it. Seems that we have a lot of Genius! So... "Error! bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 is not set" means that bFloatPointRenderTarget is set to 0 in SkyrimPrefs.ini? REAAAALLY? WOW! we couldn't figured that! I have the same matter, and, like ArabWarFighter, I can read and understand the message correctly... my bFloatPointRenderTarget -like his one- is set to 1, but still remains the message. Do you all think that we could be discussing this issue here if the solution were sooooo simple like to change a simple number in an .ini file? If you really don't know the solution, just don't insult user's intelligence, please.OK so i guess another insult...Are you editing the correct Skyrimprefs .ini ?...see i have helped more then one person with this bit of info...Their are 2 Files, ONE is in the Skyrim \Skyrim Folder the other is in the my docs folder. you have to edit the my docs one.....so..have a look and see that indeed their are 2 files... ....:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Skyrim<<<<<do not edit the Skyrimprefs.ini in this folder.....:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\My Games\Skyrim <<<<<<<<<this is where everyone BUT MO (Mod Orginizer) users will find the correct file.MO users, you are on your own, MO is doing a virtual dance with you. Kinda like hide n seek. Don't think anyone here intends to insult, we try to help, not all users understand all this. It is possible to help people without be condescendient. MyDocuments' SkyrimPrefs.ini is the first file that we all look for the matter. Anytime we install an ENB preset, we read all description and follow all installation steps and sugestions from creator, which includes SkyrimPrefs.ini edition. The most of them refers to MyDocuments folder, so the most of us edit that one. Then, it is obviously explicit that, when people ask for this issue, this file is excluded cause already has been checked before ask for help. Neverthless, the most "suggestions" that I saw in forums was "check MyDocuments>Games>Skyrim>SkyrimPrefs.ini" as the only possible answer, but saying nothing about other possible files... that is: they have no much more knowledgement than the person who asks, and they repeat the same "mental process" that he previously thought before ask (check MyDocuments' .ini file), but adding that typical tone that means "(your mind is so simple that can't see the obvious answer. Lucky you, I'm here to show you the way"). Was not my intemption to offense, but to show an attitude that I think is usual and unfair.
Spazzmaster
I did a full reinstall and changed the bFloat in documents to one and now it works perfectly. It took a while but when nothing seems to work that's always an option. When I said it was dark earlier, I was in the jarl's keep in Markarth and all I could see were pairs of eyes just floating around an endless dark void. Kind of sounds like a realm of oblivion. camaro_69_327
The original poster never returned to say one way or another if anything helped. BUT "Thyre" .... SNIP..not worth it.. Edited May 13, 2014 by camaro_69_327
SGzEliminated
Camaro's solution fixed the problem for me, I was getting confused because I was in the program files bit under steam instead of in the my documents version, wasn't very clearly stated though in my defense. Changing it to 1 in my documents fixed my problem and now it works fine, thanks.
muaddib042
I got this problem too, but there seems to be some weird caveats with changing the values. If it is set to 0, not only does the error come up, but the horizon line is darker, no matter where I look. When I set it to 1, the error goes away and the darkening effect disappears, but then most of the special lighting effects in the game disappear. For instance, if I have magic equiped and drawn, almost none of the visual effect is present anymore. Things like magelight provide light, have a sparkllng effect, but the actual orb of light is gone.
muaddib042
So I actually found out what was wrong (well, how to fix it, but I still don't understand how it all works). It turns out that the antialiasing got activated when I opened the orignial launcher (instead of SKSE). It conlficts with the bFloatPointRenderTarget when it is set to 1. I have no idea what any of that actually means, but when I turned the antialiasing off again, it was fixed. TakedaSun
Had almost the same problem but this is the side effect because of trying to move from NMM to MO. With NMM you have to fix only in the Skyrimprefs.ini and it is really simple. So when you moving in MO that is the "bad" effect of it because with you "normal" way doing the things with NMM & SKSE you can't realize that there is a folder called profiles in MO data :( so you may find lot of weird problems. So especially for those moving from NMM to MO first inform if you use NMM or MO as they have different solutions. p.s. 2 days now I am between throw my computer or search for a solution :)
TheBrux
Didn't realise MO maintained separate INIs for the profiles, outside MyDocs. Does this imply that the SKSE folder and SKSE.ini should be in the MO profile folder tree as well as (or instead of) MyDocs? I'm trying these fixes but I still get CTD when loading a save, starting a new game or, sometimes, when changing area on the odd occasion a save does load.
