Solgath
so, i recently felt like playing some fallout 3, i have the game of the year edition, and started following gophers guide to installing the mods he has suggested, this is a fresh install on windows 8, now my first problem is nexus mod manager, got the latest release and it keeps throwing a hissy fit every time i do specific things, tried installing FWE got several errors there and it seems to have broken the install completely, trying to remove a mod has no effect, reinstalling seems to do nothing either, reboot nmm and the mods that where installed disappear from the list, 2nd issue is that it appears NMM doesn't want to keep my load order, trying to follow the one gopher has just keeps reverting, i also try to install DarnUI and using the fomod version when it asks to mod the INI file clicking yes install crashes NMM, after rebooting NMM in the mods section DarnUI is not installed, yet it still shows the esp in the load order.... so i'm at a loss here, what is going on with my fallout 3 install, any suggestions? Oubliette
For fallout games FOMM is recommended above NMM.
Solgath
never had any major issues using NMM to install fallout mods before, plus i prefer NMM and gopher is using this in his tutorials
bethjunkie
Most FO3 mods, especially those with scripted installs, predate NMM and cause it to crash. Best advise is to either use FOMM (and depending on the mod you may need to search for an older version of it) or to learn how to unpack and repack mods yourself to install through Wrye Flash.
