Maigrets
Yesterday I was passing Kmart and our local gaming store, EBGames, and I decided to check out what was new in PC games. Much to my surprise they had Resident Evil 5 and only one copy left, which I snapped up. Despite the cost $79.98 (Australia) I had to have it, so I'll eat baked beans for awhile and give up a few other things... It's my favourite game series besides Silent Hill and the Elder Scrolls. I've been waiting for this since earlier in the year when it was announced....hoping it wouldn't be like the awful RE4 port to PC. I was NOT disappointed. This game is as good as or better than RE4, beautiful graphics, atmospheric and imaginative monsters. Gameplay is smooth and intuitive and very intense...meaning the monsters.. I played for five hours plus as soon as I installed and only had to give up when a Boss got the better of me..and it was 5:30AM. I was a bit dubious about how the the companion who is constantly with you would work, but I can say without a doubt if other games had companions like her they would be a pleasure to have along. The system works so well, she never gets in the way and does a heap of useful things as well as having character and good AI. She will heal me, collect ammo and items without being told to and most of all take orders and cover my back. One gripe is I can't use a gamepad because my PC pad doesn't have enough buttons and I don't have an XBox, so I can't use it's gamepad. I have a PS2 one with an adapter for PC but you can't remap the buttons although there are several different styles...but for XBox gamepads... :wallbash: Surprisingly, I've been playing with the keyboard and mouse as with any FPS and it works extremely well. In fact I'm glad I tried it and prefer it now on the PC anyway. You even have quick slots for items (1-9) keys. The other gripe is MS Windows Live, but you can create an offline account. All the achievement stuff doesn't interest me at all, but I know I will have to play through again. I'm pretty sure I've already missed a lot of things. My niece plays it on her XBox 360 and I never even saw at least one Boss she had to kill, except in the cut scenes. Anyway, this games gets a 10/10 so far from me, disregarding the gamepad issue. Halororor
Bought this game together with Wolfenstein today. Must say, compared to RE4, this game is a masterpiece. And RE4 was also good, so that should give you a fair indication of what this game feels like. The setting is extremely good and fitting, the characters a whole lot more memorable than previous games and the addition of co-op just makes this game a must have. Only problem I've had with the companion so far is she burns through her ammunition, using maybe about three times as much as I do per level and constantly running out of ammo, forcing me to defend her, sometimes when there are more than ten enemies approaching us all at once. Monolithic0117
It's very good. Not as good as RE4, though. I got the console version back when it came out, hadn't played RE5 for months before getting the PC version a few days ago.

There are cheats for that, just google inf ammo for res5 and you'll see. I don't use cheats. It's a personal choice though. I know a lot of people do use them. I'm playing on Medium difficulty at the moment and Sheva has only run out of ammo a few times and when she calls me I'm usually too occupied by enemies to help her. It's health items we run out of too often, but somehow manage to get through by the skin of our teeth.Actually, I'm finding the game fairly easy so far on Medium so I'll definitely replay on a harder difficulty. My only complaint with RE4 for the PC was it was a rushed console port and the graphics were terrible. There was or is a community graphics patch though. I used that, but I'd already finished the game on my PS2 anyway. I only got the PC version for my Resident Evil collection.
species5478
wow...I don't usually post unless I have something good to say but this time, I felt obligated to speak up... RE5 is the WORST version I have ever played. I don't say this as a casual gamer either. I've been playing since the series inception. In fact, Resident Evil One helped make me a gamer. I rented RE5 for the Playstation 3 the day it came out, and became frustrated at having paid the rental fee. But why? How dare I, you ask? I'm crazy you say? I'm not sure how it plays on P.C. but on PS3, I found the controls completely outdated. The stop and pop style was revolutionary in RE4, but antique by today's standards. I can't shoot and move? Really? WTF! The story, (if you can call it that) was so forgettable that I don't even remember what it was about, which is sad, really. None of the bosses were imaginative, nor how to defeat them. In fact, one of them, (the ogre thing you had to shoot while on the back of a truck) was a rehash of an earlier boss from RE4. Gag! And why were the zombies driving cars, shooting at me with guns, and throwing grenades etc. etc.? Seriously! If RE5 wanted to go the action route, then they should have honed the controls accordingly. With all that arcade-like, shooter/action vibe, I thought I was playing a bad action zombie movie remake or something. It would have been much better if those "zombies" were actual soldiers or something. (and yes, I know they technically weren't "zombies") And the female character served no purpose. Yeah yeah I know she's plays fetch well...that's not what I'm talking about. I use to respect the RE franchise because they gave females prominent roles. Not everybody is, or wants to play as, a guy. Whenever I played by myself, I had to play as..."whatever his name was", and was followed everywhere by the "dog" female. I kept thinking, where's her leash? Sure she obeys commands correctly, goes off to fetch, and is a handy companion, (like a dog) but she's also a degraded character. There were a lot of things done right, of course.Music was spot on. Just about all of the locales were fitting. But seriously people...a masterpiece? A masterpiece?Really?Seriously? That game is as forgettable as the main character! What was his name... Thor.
Up late Well the GC version was better then the pc and the ps2 version combined, good thing i still have it, might play it again for old time sake tomorrow. Also RE5 wasn't all that bad in gameplay wise, but it is funny how they call it a virus though, its more like a parasite.
Akimb0
I may have to try it out, but in my opinion RE sort of "lost the plot" after RE2 on the PS1, too much silly stuff going on.
OuterHeavenIV
RE 5 in PS3 is Better. I played Online with so many Random people and friends,Co-op,Mercenary,And Versus. Wis3boi
I recently "accuired" the game thru other means, because I never played any RE games before and I must say I'm impressed, not the game I'd pay $50 for, but maybe when it drops a bit. Went thru on normal difficulty and had an intense time. My only gripes are: No moving and aiming, and Sheva runs thru ammo like it was nothing....actually, I gave her an MP5 and 200 rounds and she has yet to use it lol, she usually uses the stunstick, which is fine by me because it works wonders.
