spammster
main issue i have with the game is the loss of style. 4 was for my taste already to far away from the original storyline of T-virus / zombiehordes etc. For me personally RE5 is more like a good FPS, but I really do miss the creepy factor, there's nothing shocking in it anymore, at least RE4 was still creepy. and a second issue: event trigger are done a bit sloppy, if you don't know somethings gonna happen you're already dead (like in the factory where you gotta turn on the power to walk past the disposed bodies and that ant thingy attacks you, if you don't know that ones gonna show up, you stand right below it when it shows up and theres no time to turn around and cover some ground before it kills you) on the other hand, the graphics are real nice (though they could have made the blood spatter pattern a bit more realistic, it does look extremely generic & artificial). and an easy way to force sheva to use a specific weapon: only give her one, lady doesn't change weapons (I usually use the 500 and M3 (500 obviously for long range and stronger enemies and M3 for close targets and fast moving (like dogs)). was hoping sheva would do the same if you give her both weapons, but she just picks the first weapon in a slot, so if you want her to use a specific weapon, just put it in slot 1 and she'll use it. if you wanna see something messed up, finish the game get unlimited rocket launcher ammo and make that her primary weapon, lady is blowing everything to pieces (stay clear though, she yells if she kills you, bot doesn't bather shooting if you stand right in front of her). hopefully in RE6 they go back to the original storyline bout hordes of zombies, puzzles and creep and not just shoot everything in sight till it drops. xaechireon
wow...I don't usually post unless I have something good to say but this time, I felt obligated to speak up... RE5 is the WORST version I have ever played. I don't say this as a casual gamer either. I've been playing since the series inception. In fact, Resident Evil One helped make me a gamer. I rented RE5 for the Playstation 3 the day it came out, and became frustrated at having paid the rental fee. But why? How dare I, you ask? I'm crazy you say? I'm not sure how it plays on P.C. but on PS3, I found the controls completely outdated. The stop and pop style was revolutionary in RE4, but antique by today's standards. I can't shoot and move? Really? WTF! The story, (if you can call it that) was so forgettable that I don't even remember what it was about, which is sad, really. None of the bosses were imaginative, nor how to defeat them. In fact, one of them, (the ogre thing you had to shoot while on the back of a truck) was a rehash of an earlier boss from RE4. Gag! And why were the zombies driving cars, shooting at me with guns, and throwing grenades etc. etc.? Seriously! If RE5 wanted to go the action route, then they should have honed the controls accordingly. With all that arcade-like, shooter/action vibe, I thought I was playing a bad action zombie movie remake or something. It would have been much better if those "zombies" were actual soldiers or something. (and yes, I know they technically weren't "zombies") And the female character served no purpose. Yeah yeah I know she's plays fetch well...that's not what I'm talking about. I use to respect the RE franchise because they gave females prominent roles. Not everybody is, or wants to play as, a guy. Whenever I played by myself, I had to play as..."whatever his name was", and was followed everywhere by the "dog" female. I kept thinking, where's her leash? Sure she obeys commands correctly, goes off to fetch, and is a handy companion, (like a dog) but she's also a degraded character. There were a lot of things done right, of course.Music was spot on. Just about all of the locales were fitting. But seriously people...a masterpiece? A masterpiece?Really?Seriously? That game is as forgettable as the main character! What was his name... I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who felt that way. Well, at least mostly that way anyway.
