Za1zeR
A guy on this forum said something about, that you can't just rip meshes and texture from a vanilla weapon from NV, and then port it to FO3, and then release it as a mod. Can someone please clarify the rules on this subject. Or the proper procedure to do it right. I'm currently working on a mod, there adds a weapon from NV to FO3. JimboUK
You can't use assets from one game and put them into another, it's against the site rules and Bethesda get cranky about it for some reason. Obviously you can do it for personal use, what you do on your own machine is nobody elses business but your own, you can't upload it here though. Are you sure that mesh and texture aren't already in FO3 somewhere? the two games share a lot of assets.

As I can see the author has portet many of the weapons from NV. I don't how he did it, or if he got permission, but since the mod had been available on Nexus since 29/11/2012 I guess it's legit. : D My question is, to make easier for myself: Can't I just take the assets I want to use (the anti-material rifle mesh and texture in this case) from him. He have written under permission, that it's okay to use his assets, so I guess it's a way to do it... Edited March 24, 2014 by Za1zeR

The author is only providing an .esp to use the weapons in Fallout 3. The author goes on to explain that you have to extract the assest from your copy of Fallout New Vegas and place them in your copy of the Fallout 3 data files. " To use New Vegas Weapons, you will need files from New Vegas"
Za1zeR
Okay, so I guess I have to give people directions to how to copy the files themselves, if I provide the .esp? And then it's suddenly okay? xD I'm guessing that's to avoid an illegal upload of files to the Nexus servers. Anyway, if that's the way to do it, I know which way, I have to go.
