High Gothic Platemaille

I wish to, using vanilla armours already available (without SI or KoTN) build as accurate a Gothic High German armour as possible, with the exception of the helmet, called Sallet, with the neck armour, called Bevor. those two are listed near the bottom.

Following are several pictures and my proposed steps, so please read to the bottom before making a judgement, this is, after all, NOT your average steel armour.

I've read that a good description replete with pictures of the intended is helpful, so here we go.

This is German High Gothic armour of the 15th Century.

So is this.

This is a guide to understanding the proper terminology to armour, I will be using these terms, so ignore the cockamamy ones of Oblivion (Greaves are not pants!)

http://i422.photobucket.com/albums/pp304/Gethesmain/guide.jpg

This is a Bevor, for the record, shown detached from a Sallet. The Bevor, for those not on the quick, is the NOT GOLD part of the armour.

Here is my description.

Steel Boots, Steel Greaves and Steel Cuirass from Vanilla Oblivion can be used almost as is (These are their vanilla names, they ought read Steel Greaves, Cuirass and Cuiss.)

The Steel Cuirass lower portion starting at the belt (called a TASSET) should be cut off and removed entirely and be replaced with the portion from the belt down (minus the skirt) of the FEMALE Iron Cuirass. With this done the Cuirass is more or less complete.

Here is a picture of what you are going to want. (it's sorta small, couldn't find a bigger picture)

http://i422.photobucket.com/albums/pp304/Gethesmain/16975-2-1209925786.jpg

And here is a picture of (sort of) what it will look like, pardon the bad Photoshop merge. (this is also sorta small. Zoom in)

http://i422.photobucket.com/albums/pp304/Gethesmain/16975-2-1209925786-1.jpg

And Finally, the tasset itself. Preferably from the MALE Ebony. The RED part is the Tasset.

The shoulder armour (Pouldron) down to the vambrace (where the Gauntlet starts) should be from the Ebony armour, please. (like in this mod)

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php...13760&tab=3

Use the MALE EBONY ARM, not the female one.

The Gauntlets should be ELVEN but need no changes save for colour, which we'll get to.

So that covers the Cuirass, the Greaves the Cuiss and the Gauntlet, as well as the Tasset, retrofit to the Cuirass. This leaves the Sallet. Several of them exist, all of them however, have at least one gaping flaw.

The one from Ghogeils armoury is fine, but it has no Bevor. (see man at arms)

A helmet that does not protect the face is useless in combat, and leaving half ones face open is just begging for a sharp blade to rip a nice whole in the neck. This is important above all, that bevor. I must have it I beg! and NO, CHAIN IS NO SUBSITUTE, I beg!

Dalls Black Armoury has a Sallet with a bevor, but is apparently uncolourable to my specifications, I have already asked him about this. A pity, because it is otherwise perfect.

Finally, the helm of Phitts helmets available here Has a fine Bevor, but the helm itself is under-par for High German.

What do I propose? Merge the bevor of Phitts with the Sallet from Ghogiels man at arms.

That will leave us with a complete armour. As for colour? Simple. Shiny metal ought to be shiny.

If some one is willing to go those extra steps, than try and match this sort of colour scheme.

Also a Black and Gold version would be resplendent, but I leave that to your busy schedules.

And of course, any colour schemes in addition would be wonderful.

I mentioned that female armour piece (the Iron Cuirass) would have to lend a part. PLEASE MAKE THIS ARMOUR available for both male and female users. My character, Ruthala, has size A breasts, so an Exnem will not be necessary to me, but of course you can do that if you want. But I beg you, do not give this armour BOOBS for my version.

Obviously this is a lot of information, but it's really not a giant task, much of the stuff is already available in game. alot of it is resizing.

Stat's wise? Heavier than Daedric, and stronger too. This is the epitome of armour to me, and should reflect that. A good solid point stronger at least, in def.

I thank you, anyone, for reading this. Profusely.

Thanks to LHammonds for the reflective metal, Phitts for the Bevor of his sallet, and Ghogiel for the Sallet itself.

Ghogiels Sallet is available for use from his mod, so long as he gets credit, and Phitt asks that he be asked, which I did, and there has been no reply since his box is full, but he has stated that if he cannot be reached, then crediting is in due order if the piece is used.

Oh Moderator, is it possible to change this topic name to "High Gothic Platemaille" as opposed to "German High Gothic Platemaille"? I fear that people see the "German" and immediately walk past it because they think it is a German mod. And of course, I realise this is a double post, so feel free to delete this insert when the name is changed.

Thank you in advance.

I can offer a back view, I shall look for one, see it here with an edit momentarily.

AS FOR THE HELMET, as I have very clearly stated, the Helmet offered in that mod, the one with the closed face Mithril, Orcish, and others, by Phitt, is not up to par. It is however perfect for the bevor, also which I have mentioned.

Not at all to say that it is not a lovely helmet, but it is by no means close to what I am looking for, especially knowing that Ghogiels exists.

Though if someone can somehow get that metallic steel texture on the one offered in Dalls Dark Knight, we'd be rolling.

Thank you, by the way, for concurring that this would look wonderful in the game, Here's to crossed fingers!

Edit* Here is picture of a typical Gothic Harness from the back.

Come on you guys, I've had fifty pageviews and only one reply, give me something to work with here. How about a rating to 10? Do you like it, is it a good idea, different texture ideas, SOMETHING PEOPLE. if you read it RATE IT.

Thanks Cecil. This really is a simple task all things considered: A cuirass touch up, and a helmet merging. Other than that it's a texture job.

Heck, if I can just get someone to do the armour, then eventually I can surely convince someone to do textures later.

Woot, my very first kudos. Thanks to whoever gave it to me.

You are a Gift of the Gods my friend. This is Precisely what I had in mind.

I do apologise for bothering you, and several other modders, into helping me, but it seemed that this was going nowhere.

A kudos to you I believe is in order.
