SoulFire_
My brother recently ran into a problem in his game, where no one in Cyrodiil or the Shivering Isles could talk about anything related to a quest. Most NPC's had no dialogue options whatsoever, a few had the "rumours" option. However they could still sell and buy stuff, sell spells, enchant, repair, and be persuaded. Not that it did any good. He was still doing the main quest at the time (new game, second time through), when he tried to do the "Allies for Bruma" mission and close the Cheydinhal Gate. The count, the Knights of the Thorn, and none of the gate guards had any conversation topics, making the mission impossible to finish. Then, just after the mission to find the Great Welkynd stone, Martin Septim, Jauffre, and then no one would talk about anything. Big problem. Another thing I didn't mention is that we're running a lot of mods, with out OMOD. I never saw the need really, I can paste files myself, and I've never had any clashes or complicated mods like overhauls or ULs that need to be loaded in orders and whatnot. I figure this problem may be related to a recent addition of a mod. The latest mods that I added were MALEVOLENTKragenir's Death Quest (plus Rural Dialogue Additions)The Orrery (Official) He hadn't done anything in any of those quests, and so the problem seemed to be attributed to something in the main quest, but it did coincide with the times that I activated those mods. I did manage to fix the problem tho... mostly. I turned off the esp's of those files... which did nothing. I figured it must have been vanilla itself screwing up. However this still seemed unlikely, seeing that my saves and characters and quests were completely uneffected, even doing those missions. What I did was re-install Oblivion altogether. I have the GOTY edition, but I didn't bother to reinstall Knights or The Isles coz the esp's and all that were already in the data directory. Going into his game, he found the problem solved except: No Shivering Isles or Knights. He saved before I tried reinstalling again. So I re-installed the game again, this time WITH the plugins, mind MALEVOLENT and KDQ. and when loading the latest save game (after the last re-install), the problem was solved, except for some exceptions: 1) The problem had left Cyrodiil and only applied to the Shivering Isles. The only quest available was the one he was up to, the Duke of Mania mission. 2) All mod quests had reverted back to the start of their lines. 3) All of the Midas Magic spells he obtained were gone. 4) There was no sign of anything related to Knights Of The Nine (he had finished it) Funny thing is, some mod items he retained, such as an Addonay Elven Longblade, and Apophis armour. However, his set of full madness armour had disappeared, along with anything else found in The Isles, and his Crusader artifacts. Trying to load the save I did BEFORE the first reinstall (always back up your saves!), the problem wasn't solved at all. In the end, he decided to plow on through his game, minus the Shivering Isles Quests. Although please, this is a bizarre problem. I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was, or how to now fix it. I'm not accusing the developers of KDQ or MALEVOLENT of this problem, I'm just wondering what it might be, and if anyone here knows how to solve this bug. Thanks, SoulFireThat's a known issue that happens when the PC goes from Shivering Isles to Cyrodiil without passing the 'normal' gate. The simpler way to correct it is reentering SI and coming back from that portal. PS: it's not mod related and will happen even in vanilla SI games. Well, the statement is valid if no mod was the cause you quiting SI by 'abnormal' ways... going trhu the portal again will set the control variables correctly and solve the issue. David Brasher
Fascinating. That might explain a small bug within a bug that I have. Two Golden Saints somehow followed me back to Bravil. They hang around outside the castle, and have no GREETING. I came back to Cyrodiil through the portal, but they presumably did not. So everyone I talk to has the expected topics except for the Golden Saints which aren't even supposed to be there anyway.
