How do I create an esp?

Retribution

Recommended Posts

I have decided to get into modding a tiny bit. I know my way around the construction set fairly well, having edited many different mods to my liking, but there's something very simple that I don't know how to do, and it's probably the simplest thing. How do I create an esp? I can't find where to do it in the construction set, and I can't find any help on the internet. Sorry for being such a noob :P

once you have created your items and have the textures added you can then create a container(of your choosing) place your items in said container and then using the window in the lower right place your container. Once its placed:

click file

click data

click ok; you should then get a message asking if you want to save it.name your esp

then click save and its done

and don't let that meathead that thought his answer was funny deter you,we're here to help.

Well, I think the very FIRST step is still worth mentioning. Before even starting you need to load at least Oblivion.esm, plus any .esm/.esp files your file needs to depend on. Not as active files. Then you do your changes and then you save as was described above.

It's OK to be a newbie (not a noob). The first thing is to have Oblivion installed, patched to 1.2.0416 and working good. Then download and install the latest Construction Set. Sounds like you might have everything to this point.

Now, instead of me wasting my breath (finger typing really), just head over to the Construction Set Wiki (CS Wiki) and bookmark that page. Then start going through the beginner tutorials.

There are many things you can do with just the Construction Set (CS). Later, you can get into things such as texture replacers that replace all textures in the game and do not require a plugin. Or you can copy a model (NIF) file to a new location and modify the NIF file using NifSkope to point the model to a new texture file. Then use the Construction Set to add a NEW and unique item to the game that looks different than anything else (color-wise). If you can create models in a 3D modeling program like Blender, you can even create your own NIF files and add new models to the game which are 100% unique in shape and color...not just a re-textured Daedric armor set.

But the core to do any of this is the Construction Set. You will first need to master how to do things inside this tool first before branching off into other tools.
