New Reno in Fallout: New Vegas

I just like to say that I love playing Fallout 2, especially with the unofficial restoration project of the game. What I like to talk about is New Reno. In Fallout: New Vegas, a character named Bruce Isaac mentions a Mr. Bishop. Looking up the canon story for Fallout 2, I discovered that Mr. Bishop is actually the son of both the Chosen One and John Bishop's daughter or possibly his wife. Mr. Bishop starts running New Reno and dies at the age of 73 never knowing who his real father was.

Well, I've been thinking that maybe this creates the possibility of making a New Reno mod. It could serve as a mod that is triggered after the NCR ending and chrssy_M_'s CAGE mod:

After all, he did say that it can be used as a modders resource, though he should still be asked and given credit of course. The mod could be episode-based (ex. Half-Life: Episodes One and Two, and BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea). Now, some of you are probably wondering how could anyone incorporate New Reno into Fallout NV? Also, for an episode-based mod, will the character be the same or have his/her inventory from previous events? Is New Reno going to be turned into a world space? Well, as of right now, I'm looking up maps and pictures of Reno, Nevada.

Yes, the player character can be the Courier. The Bishop Family find Bruce Isaacs, and so the Courier is forced to travel to town and attempts to rescue him. Bring only what you need because you may not be back in the Mojave for a while. Visit all of the casinos, and meet many of New Reno's mob bosses. Actually, there could be a faction status for those. If the year is 2282, and Mr. Bishop is born in 2242, then he is 40, which is thirty-seven years before his death. As for creating a world space, for now I am looking up Reno, Nevada and exploring more about Fallout 2 and NV's story for New Reno (more than what I already know).

For now, I'm starting with creating the world space of New Reno. I'll start off with what I can do in the GECK and then later present it to Nexus. I may need a team in the future, but not today. Right now, I'm going to start with just me. Now, I'm sure Bethesda won't mind any of this, because they had to have mentioned New Reno and Mr. Bishop on purpose, unless they're thinking about creating it in a future Fallout game, which I'm not so sure about. Will the story be too canon? Well, actually, like the core game, you can be given choices that will lead to certain consequences. For example, will Bruce Isaacs live or die? Do you join the Bishop Family or go against them? Will there be music. Not sure, but I actually found some FO1 and FO2 music saved into FNV but not used. For example, I found the FO2 music for New Reno in FNV, but they never used it. Is it remastered? Yes.

As I say, I will only start with what I can do on my own. It'll be a lot of work, I'll admit; but I think it's worth it. What got me interested in this is Tinkerlad's unfinished mod in this following link:

Let me know what you think. Also, if you want to share ideas, post comments in this forum thread or send me a PM. I look forward to hearing from the modding community. You all have such wonderful mods for such a wonderful game.

Just something I would like to see: NCR trying to annex New Reno. I'm an NCR fan and it bugs me that they haven't been able to or even mention attempting to annex New Reno. After New Vegas is annexed I could see the state legalizing gambling, which would aid the NCR if they were to attempt to annex New Reno.

You know what? That really doesn't sound like a bad idea. It actually makes sense. Well, I'll see if I can figure out a way to incorporate that, though the NCR would have to take caution while in New Reno. I imagine the many parts of New Reno to be no different than the many parts of Freeside. Robbing, murdering, plundering, all that jazz from the locals. I'm sure they have all of that in New Reno, let's not forget the jet addicts.

I could see it happening diplomatically and the families would have to give up any illegal operations they have going, except casinos (although they would probably be taxed heavily) and become NCR citizens and in exchange they will get energy from Hoover Dam, protection, and law and order. Although at first they could be tempted to accept, after some secret missions the player goes on too sway the families into either accepting or not accepting the deal they will reach a conclusion. There could even be a quest set up by some of the families and the NCR that results in a lot, if not all, of the factions losing power.

Well, I went on to the Fallout wiki and found a great deal of information about New Reno and its ruling mob families. Turns out, the real families that have become the most powerful and are now calling the shots are the Wright Family and the Van Graffs. I always thought that the Van Graffs were only in Freeside, but I guess some of them are also in New Reno. However, Mr. Bishop can still play a big role for this mod, and most definitely the Wright Family and NCR.

As a consequence within the game, if you do Cass' quest and have the Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan Company blackmailed by NCR, or if you kill the Van Graffs, then the Van Graffs in New Reno will make a few comments about it.

If you want to see the wikia page for New Reno, here it is:

There's actually a country song in Mr. New Vegas' radio frequency. I must've missed it many times because I've never heard it except in this video:

While Blue Moon is the official song for New Vegas, Streets of New Reno can be official for this mod. Why not? It sings New Reno, and you're in New Reno. Sounds fitting.

Again, as I'm working on the mod, tell me what you think.

The Van Graffs are a large trading family that operates throughout NCR territory with their HQ being in New Reno. You'd have to some Van Graffs in the mod if you were going to do a power struggle. They would most likely attempt to kill the courier if (s)he were to enter New Reno, so I could see them sending assassins after the player while they're in lesser populated areas of the city.

Also the NCR doesn't blackmail the Van Graffs or Alice McLafferty. They try to bring them in so they can be charged for their crimes but they end up being killed.

Okay, I need help from someone who's an architect. Have any one of you ever been to Reno? I've been looking up Reno and images of it in Google Earth and tried to distinguish them with the New Reno maps in Fallout 2. The roads and the location of the Reno Arch appear to be different; but it's still in Virgin Street, or what is known today as Virginia Street. Also, the location of the buildings do not match.
