Any tutorial is a good one, unless it's a wall of text.. Just goes on and on and on...

For text tutorials just make sure to include pictures, video tutorials are better, but if you are to create a video tutorial with text instead of you voicing it you might as well not bother. A video tutorial with text is IMO a lot more annoying then a wall of text.

May I ask, tutorial for which program? Blender? Autodesk?

Some basic tutorials are always good to have, aren't they? Just start basic, you could just take some text tutorials and turn them into video tutorials and explain more in-depth then what you can with text.

Hopefully this post helped!

Yes, tutorials are always welcome.

Different people learn by different techniques, you already have a request for a video tutorial. My own experience with these is not too good. Most are unedited poor quality and I can't see what is happening, the maker goes through things too fast, and the voice over is disjoint and hard to follow. There are exceptions - with good, sharp video, slow enough to see what happened and an edited voice over instead of on the fly voice.

Hint to video tutorial makers - first write a script, make a story board, then rehearse the tutorial, record it 3 or four times, then go back and edit it. You can cut out the bad parts and replace them with the same segment from a different recording. Instead of using the on the fly voice recording re do the voice part as a voice over.

My own preference is step by step, with short text sections, not over 6 or 7 lines, then a pic illustrating the step using a screen capture picture or more if needed (or even a short video segment). And a special tutorial example that can be downloaded or created by anyone using the tutorial. Using this you can go over the part you do not understand as many times as necessary. And if there is something that is not clear, it can be added in later without either having to remake the entire video, or adding in an edited section that does not match the rest.

Awesome ^^ I work in 3ds max 9, though im sure blender has pretty much the same functions. At the moment, I dont have any recording software other than fraps and I dont think fraps goes on for more than 30sec at a time.

So, Ill probably go with text and a s***load of pictures to help the process.

Cheers,

Payton

I think either Hypercam or Camstudio is free.. Hmmm

Also there is some program that allows you to take screenshots of your desktop and save it to wherever automatically, for comfort, you should check that out
