I don't think Oblivion is setting new levels of graphics or anything... F.E.A.R is the top of the line for graphics for a game... and my computer runs that on high with a few on medium...and I have yet to notice some lag
Jackathyn
I sure as heck hope it works. I have a new, high-end computer (cost me two grand, too...) but it had a little trouble getting Morrowind started. It still doesn't work in full-screen but the Morrowind loading times are nonexistant for me... I hope that's a good sign.
Switch
I shouldn't worry about that. The Morrowind engine is very unstable and far less optimised than the Oblivion engine. I can run Half-Life 2 on full graphics better than I can run Morrowind on mid graphics.

I found that morrowind doesn't really have many video settings though... like you can't change the graphics to much, all I remember changing was draw distance. Perhaps I'm missing something. Switch
There are shadows as well... but it's true the basic graphics can't be changed much in-game. You can only do that from something like the NVidia control panel where you can reduce image quality/AA/AF regardless of the application. And similarly, increase it as I recently found out... Morrowind looks pretty damn good on 8x AA 16x AF. :P Luckily it sounds like Oblivion will have much more scalability than Morrowind when it comes to graphics as well, so that's another thing to factor in. DaDude9211
i don't remember where, but i saw the minium require ments, my computer is a few years old, with a new graphics card (well not new, it was just the second best one i could put in my comp without paying 300 bucks) i have an althlon 2200+ (i think i have 2 of these in here, don't remember) with 1GB of ram, and an ati Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB, the only thing i was worried about was the graphics card  (i can run SW BF2 with medium LOD and veiw distance and low and medium settings) although mine was dropped and the seller wouldn't return e-mails >:( ... and for some reason it can't handle reflective surfaces very well... like some of the hanger bays
Dilvish
Here is a link that Kissimurra posted on another website. It will let you know where your computer is compared to the minimum and recommended system requirements even if you aren't sure of any technical details about your computer. Oblivion is listed as "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - PC" on the drop down list. http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest
Peregrine
Huh, that site's good news... I pass in all areas except disk space (easily changed), when I'd expected to need some upgrades. Of course it really depends on how well optimized the engine is... if it's like Call of Duty 2 as stated elsewhere, it'll be just fine. If it's like Battlefield 2, it'll look ugly if it even runs.
