Help Wanted! BNB conversion

My mod, No Sleeves No Shirts NV could use updating for BNB. I do not know anything about the body or skeleton it uses, or if the type 3 pieces can fit. For now I would like an advisor on whether this can even be done. I would like to learn a bit more on modeling and texturing in the process. If it can go through, I would like somebody to create a conversion (or I can assist them or they can assist me). Anybody at all who helps will receive credit in the mod and kudos, of course.

I don't have time to work on a conversion myself, but you could take a look at Quo Vagis for BNB.

/data/meshes/characters/Belthan/Body/FemaleDJiggle.nif is pretty close to a Type 3 body in general proportions, and is rigged to the Breeze skeleton so it reacts to any animation of the breast bones the same way the BNB body does. You can use it to add bounce to your outfits with NifSkope and Blender as outlined below. Theoretically you could use the same procedure with the BNB body itself, but the proportions of the BNB body are significantly different from Type 3, so an automated bone weight copy won't work right.

1) Load your outfit and FemaleDJiggle.nif in NifSkope.

2) Select a part of your NIF, right click and use "Copy Branch".

3) Go to FemaleDJiggle.NIF and "Paste Branch".

4) Don't use plain "Copy" and "Paste" by mistake, or it will royally hose the NIF and you'll need to start over.

5) Repeat 2-4 until all all parts of your outfit & body are copied over.

6) Save as a new file.

There may be some clipping issues because of differences in shape between FemaleDJiggle and Type 3, but don't worry about it. You'll be deleting FemaleDJiggle at the end once your outfit bounces.

(And unfortunately, just copying the body mesh from FemaleDJiggle.NIF into your NIF would fail because it doesn't have the rigging for the breast bones yet.)

7) Import the new NIF in Blender.

8 ) In Object mode, press A once or twice until everything is unselected.

9) Select one piece of your body and/or outfit that needs to bounce.

10) While holding Shift, select Arms01 (the body mesh from FemaleDJiggle.NIF). If you have more than one mesh in the NIF file with that name, make sure you get the right one.

11) From the menu, select Object->Scripts->Bone Weight Copy.

12) Set Quality to 3 (4 crashes Blender pretty consistently), make sure "Update Selected" is enabled, and hit OK.

13) Repeat 8-12 for each of your body and/or clothing pieces that needs to bounce.

14) Export the NIF.

The Bone Weight Copy script occasionally leaves some faces unassigned, so you may get an error message when exporting. If so, in the Vertex groups section pick BP_TORSO from the drop-down list and hit "Assign". Then retry the export.

15) Load the NIF you exported from Blender back into NifSkope.

16) You don't need the body mesh that came from FemaleDJiggle.NIF any more, so delete it.

17) If you're familiar with importing & exporting NIFs from Blender, you probably know how to fix the quirky stuff that doesn't export well (Shader Type, Shader Flags, NiStencilProperty, etc.)

18) Sanitize and Update Tangent Spaces.

19) Save.

That's it. Your outfit should now react to animation of the breast bones. A couple of caveats:

- Users who don't have BNB or any other mods installed that provide the Breeze skeleton will crash or see massively distorted bodies/outfits if they use your BNB-compatible outfits.

- Users who have a mod that provides the Breeze skeleton (for example, Animated Prostitution), but don't have BNB itself will see your bodies & outfits ok in game, but nothing will bounce.

  • 2 weeks later...

we just added bnb to ares and 15 armors so it is doable indeed!

we have 2 last armors to convert and my Bf figured it would be a good idea to make a video for it since all tutorial are written and confusiing if not blender experience,

i myself just mastered manual painting finally! but ya it is most certainly doable!

Youd need Compatibility or any BnB Body Armature/skeleton and copy all weight automatically

and wait if i get your question right you'd want someone to do this for you?

we should be finished with our neko project update by friday, and a video could be up on how to do it also friday,

if not then id gladly do it once we finished on friday =)

lol i was going to say ask author permission but duuh its yours =) so if you want i would gladly do it has we still need more practice and its not so bad to do =)

only when you are stuck doing some manual painting or when you use a bad body to copy weight it can be a REAL pain
