Scripted cutscenes not executing

Heya.

I've got a major problem that prevents me from progressing further in the game. Once I get the GECK in Vault 87, and enter the room with the stun grenade, the Enclave don't appear at all. I see the grenade blinding me for a second, the GUI turns off, my companion is lying on the floor behind me, but nothing happens. I just stand there, being only able to look around. It's as if the script spawning Autumn and the Enclave soldiers that are supposed to arrest me doesn't execute at all.

The problem appeared a short while after installing FOOK2, so I took the issue to their boards, and found out quite a lot of people had similar problems with the cutscenes (my post on the FOOKUNITY boards, listing threads describing the problem: link). However, I found out that the bug persists even after disabling FOOK and ALL plugins whatsoever, including DLCs (and excluding "FOOK2 - [DIK]DLC Improvement Kit .esm", without which my save game won't load for some reason). This points to the save game being corrupted in some way, possibly by FOOK (as I almost don't use any other plugins, just two playermade radios and a Megaton house overhaul).

Is there perhaps a way to force the proper script to execute via console? That would be the best workaround I can think of, as I don't want to start a new character. Maybe some other ideas?

You could perhaps try the SetStage command... you could get the quest BaseID and stage values from the construction set (or GECK). You can find the quest in the tree under Actor -> Quests.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Finding_the_Garden_of_Eden

Quest's name is MQ08 and it's base ID is: 00014E8E

SetStage <BaseID> ##

The GECK lists these values for stages:

10 - Log entry: Locate the underground entrance to Vault 87

15 - Log entry: Retrieve the G.E.C.K

20 - Log entry: Rescue Fawkes from the Observation Cells (Optional)

30 - Log entry: escape from Vault 87

200 - Log entry: <blank>

So for example: SetStage 00014E8E 30

I'm not guaranteeing this will work though... make sure to make extra copies of your saves and what not before messing around with these.

Personally I've run into a similar bug when reaching the Brotherhood Citadel, though I've not got the mod installed that you mentioned. The conversation between Li and the Leader would just not start. The way I fixed it was by quicksaving and quickloading repeatedly. They spoke a line each time I loaded... pretty tedious and annoying bug. Maybe with a bit of luck it'll help you aswell.

  • 8 years later...

The FOOK-link that's provided, ends up at a Princeton Watches store site. Of course, it is now 9 years since the original post, so I suppose anything is possible where links are concerned.

I recently fired up Fallout 3 for a new run, having last played through in 2013. I don't have FOOK installed, but I am experiencing an anomaly after the flash bomb is thrown, in Vault 87. Upon regaining my eyesight, I seem to be on the floor - perhaps propped up with my left arm, but I'm unable to use any controls. The two Enclave soldiers walk into my line of sight, then behind me, and my field of view is quite limited. Here's the thing: Colonel Autumn enters the room from the same door the two soldiers did - only he is walking backwards, with his pistol drawn and that $h!t-eatin' grin on his face. But, he continues the backwards walk, right through the opposite door and off into the halls of the Vault! (I know this because at the moment he comes into my view, I bring the console up and type "TFC" and follow him all the way to a vault door that transitions to another part of the vault! TFC, obviously can't follow him beyond that. Turning it off brings me back to the floor, my view wavering, but since Autumn has left the building - the quest won't complete, and the three of us are stuck. I've tried to set the quest stage to 30, to no avail. Using "SQS MQ08" as Olurum points out, does list one more stage: Stage 200. I've even tried that one, but no luck. I have a save, upon entering the floor that Fawkes is on; as well as an older save where I get the lowdown from Scribe (his name escapes me) about the location of Vault 87 and Little Lamplight. Either one ends up as described above. I'm using the exact same mods I did in 2013, except I did get the 2017 Fallout3 Unofficial Patch - latest update. I've played the game at least a dozen times since it came out, and always made it through this quest. The only thing that's obvious - now that I've typed this :ermm: - is that latest update. Guess I had better uninstall that, then try it again. Although, I'd have to start another new game... Anyone else experience this, perhaps?
