KennethKarl
I would like to know how to record gameplay into video files. If anyone could send me a link to a reputable site I would be most appreiciative.
WoogieMonster
The two most popular methods are FRAPS and Xfire. http://www.xfire.com/ Xfire is completely free and gives you a webpage to upload your screenshots and videos, but it has a size limit of 10 minutes per uploaded video. Screenshots are saved in the .png format and are quite large in file-size (up to 4mb in some hi-def games), they can not be edited if you plan to upload them to your xfire profile page. http://www.fraps.com/ FRAPS has a free version and a pay version. The pay version gives the freedom of choosing the file type for screenshots and can take rapid-fire screenshots (up to 1 every second) by pressing the button only once. - Both programs allow videos to be edited and both programs can have the video folder location changed whenever you wish in case your drive starts to fill up. FRAPS also does that for screenshots.- Neither program will actually edit your videos, you'll need something else for that.- Xfire has the added bonus of also being a chat client that functions inside the game: while this sounds awesome, it can be very annoying if someone starts to talking while you're recording because it does appear on the screen.- Both programs have customizable button controls and all the important settings options are nearly the same.- Xfire has a full and very active tech support forum (in which I participate). FRAPS does not appear to have a forum, but there is a support/FAQ page, probably because it's so easy to use that there is little you can do wrong. I can not recommend either over the other, as I find myself "needing" both equally, but the fact that xfire gives all the options free may be something to consider if you're on a budget. Steven917
Xfire has a good video-capturing system? I thought camstudio was the way to go. D:
