Counter-Strike is basicly the last resort of an idiot, they constantly brainwash themselves into becomming \"skilled\" at it, but even though all they becomme good at is caffine-fueled nerdrage, first person shooters are REALLY entertaining, but someone calling themselves skilled at it only shows that they suck so much on real things, that they need to be the leaders of graphical violence to settle their pathetic need of self-approval. So when someone is mean to you on an FPS-site: ignore it, they sure are worse off than you are >_<. \"omg hax u fail!\" is the battlecry of the chronic masturbator...

Actually not ever1 that is "skilled" at FPS is an @#$@$$!$ it depends on a lot of things. I am very skilled at FPS and I am a nice person. Playing FPS and becoming skilled and/or adept at them is very challenging. Besides that playing Fallout 3 or Oblivion you need to know certain keys and key combinations correct? The better you are at those things or what spells or grenades to use/throw when is a skill. So therefore is someone who is skilled at those games the same? It really comes down to how you want to spend your free time. After all it is your time is it not? As far as violence goes, FO3 and Oblivion have loads of violence and pickpocketing, stealing, blowing things up etc... Really has nothing to do with self approval in most cases but rather having fun spending your free time with friends doing something you like. I also see th other side and agree there are some people that go overboard with their attitude but that is in all genre's of games not just FPS.

Actually... FPS basicly narrows down to reflexes, basic dexterity and perception, thus meaning that anyone with a high IQ is \\\"skilled\\\" at first person shooters, it\\\'s ironic how intellectual people tends to resort away from them. Even though intellect and pretentiousness isn\\\'t that far away from eachother.

Point is: First person shooters takes no skill, just repedativeness and IQ. Even though like I said: people with too high IQ tends to find them unstimulating. Playing games where you shoot the crap out of people in a big and gruesome exchange of simulated amunition is fun, but don\\\'t confuse it with skills just because you\\\'re addicted to it, and trust me: all addictions are substances for a personality disorder, and in this case it\'s lack of self-approval since it feels good to win, and you win every time you kill someone in an online first person shooter.

Personally, I don't care about the intellectual dexterity behind those who play first person shooters...

Some of the best players I run with are very smart. Admittedly, most seem retarded though. And not from an intellectual standpoint either, but because they lack basic manners on all levels.

The only thing I play online is Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. I love playing the story mode with one of my girlfriends, or leaving it open for people to join in at will. I don't even use a mic half of the time, because I find better enjoyment from just playing the game than with the frivolous conversations that always spark up. (And they're usually about my gender) Another thing I don't like are (bunny hoppers)? People coming and going and coming and going is a bit irradiating, but what can you do?

Interesting fact; While serving in the U.S.M.C., there was a general theme of gamers, and non-gamer in the company that I was a part of. Some considered themselves too "grown up" to play. Others didn't. The game was Rainbow 6 Vegas which Marines seemed to gravitate towards because it felt "the realest", according to the guys. That's how I got hooked, too. Anyway, when Platoon Sergeants did the numbers, gamers not only had a higher kill ratio in the field, but a larger survivability rates as well. I won't quote the numbers or the possible reasons why. The science behind it is still debatable. Just mentioning this because there may be some practical use for these types of games, if used in the right setting.

Wow you're a strange one...

Well, I'm not here to defend violence. Any manner of killing is wrong, even in a video game. Simple as that.

I could tell by my previous post, that you're just sifting through pages looking for reasons to incite people. I stated very plainly that, "The science behind it is still debatable. Just mentioning this because there may be some practical use for these types of games, if used in the right setting."

Firstly, I am far from ignorant. Call me that again, and I will report you. Quoting a military fact, or my enlistment in the Marines, does not make me, or any other soldier stupid. You need to learn some respect.

And there's no need to state the obvious. Playing most any game is a waste of time. They're a means of entertainment. People like you (Strangeman) seem to think you're smarter than others, because of how you choose to waste your time. If you've ever watched a comedy or drama on T.V., you've wasted your time. Responding to my post, was a waste of time because nobody really cares what you, or I think.

And of course America invaded Iraq. (again with the obvious) Are you serious? America specializes in invasions. That's how this nation was born. And from our initial invasion of "America", arose all the little gadgets that people love. Like the computer you used to make your post. You're welcome by the way. Another product of armed invasions brought to you by the America you love to hate.

Maybe you're right. When America was hit on 911, perhaps we should have sat still twiddling our thumbs. Sorry, but we did what most nations would have done. We mobilized.

You seem to enjoy downing soldiers, but what have you done with your life? Have you designed a cure for Cancer? Are you working in the Senate to bring about world peace? PROBABLY NOT....What makes you so high and mighty? What contributions to the "greater good" have you made? You don't have to respond, because we already know the answer. Nothing, I'm sure. Just another guy with a chip on his shoulder.

And those veterans you're so found of mentioning didn't have to go to war. Nobody put a gun to their head, and forced them into combat. They could have refused. Draft or not, they chose to go into battle. But you probably wouldn't know that, because you're not a soldier. Or even a good debater. I know you might live in fairytale world of sunshine and puppies but in the real world, soldiers are a necessity. Believe it or not, but we live in a violent world. There are a lot of bad people out there. All of the many Hitlers are proof of that. The very society we live in, which has provided all of your luxuries, was built on the foundation of war.

By the way...

It doesn't matter how smart you are. You can't avoid death. What, do think by NOT joining the military, you're going to live forever? We're all going to die. Some as civilians. Others as soldiers. I choose the latter.

Atleast you got sincirety in your purpouse, highly aware of that you\'re being the badguy rather than the tiny nation you exploit, I respect honesty, so I guess I misjudged you. On the other hand... Taking for granted that I hate Americans? Far from, America is good in many ways, tad too extreme for my taste. What I do hate is it\'s arrogance and hipocracy, even though most fanaticals have that in common.

I do know respect, and since you didn\'t defend it by saying something about welled up lies about weapons of mass-destruction or just mentioning 9/11, you certainly have mine. Adolph Hitler is a nice reference to what many Americans do, since he once said \"The victor is never asked to tell the truth\", and still you did, wich is why I respect you. Now you may whent abit overboard when you said that I wouldn\'t have the luxuries I have now if it wasn\'t for soldiers, not 100% true since I hail from a neutral nation, and claiming that Bill Gates couldn\'t invent a computer if he was native American is a tad bit racist, even though it\'s abit manipulative to say that you claim that.

...And I never thought I\'d live forever, I am a smoker...

Wow. The audacity of some people is staggering.

Isn't it just?

I found a good Norwegian CS community. They're very good and friendly an they have clan vs clan wars which are fun.

Oh and Strangeman, CS does require skill. While it requires the very basic levels of skill, it still requires it. I mean, you turn a corner, and a guy headshots you through a tiny little gap obstructed by crates and walls, and then manages to get five more with 1 hp left. that requres skill. Skill at THE GAME. Not skill at anything else, but skill at the game.
