I made an account to this sight because I have a macbook pro with an intel core so I can run windows on it. I'm perfectly happy with the mac OS but all the good games are for windows, Bethesda's in particular. I just found out how huge oblivion's file is, and my computer didn't even come with that much memory on it! Can someone tell me if it really is 4GBs, or is that with save-games and mods?

I AM SO ANNOYED!

The 4G is for Hard drive space. I have USB sticks with more than that. The game will run in much less RAM. It will actually run with 512M RAM, but it will not be very responsive. 1G RAM is about the minimum for any real gameplay. And it will only actually use a max of 2G. but if you have more, it helps as any system stuff will be in the extra RAM

Here is the actual requirements from the Bethesda site:

What are the PC system requirements?

Recommended:

* 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

* 1 GB System RAM

* ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

Minimum System Requirements:

* Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows XP 64-bit

* 512MB System RAM

* 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

* 128MB Direct3D compatible video card

* and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver;

* 8x DVD-ROM drive

* 4.6 GB free hard disk space

* DirectX 9.0c (included)

* DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card

* Keyboard, Mouse

Note that the recommended requirements are much higher then the minimum requirements. And that this is several years old. There have been several new generations of video cards since the list was made.

I think the thing you thought is a memory is actually RAM. Even my old PC had 40 GB.

I think Ancient is right. Ain't that a laptop you are having there? It should have at least 40 GB... older ones can't run Oblivion on them so it's useless to even think about that.

  • 1 month later...

Yeah, with a MacBook, they come stock with 4 GBs of RAM, and between 160 and 500 GB Hard Drives.

Your Mac should run Oblivion fine. You should have 2.2 to 2.8 GHz processors.

You were looking at RAM. So I lol at you. Anyway, have fun playing.
