crowlotus
I have noticed since adding new mods, my computer refuses to load mods. The problem is, I have used these mods in the past. However, when I try to enable them along with the 'newer' mods, the game refuses to load until I disable my 'older' mods. Also, when I use the OBMM my game seems to take forever to load and it still crashes. I was wondering if anyone could help me in this area. I would greatly appreciate it. I would greatly appreciate it.maybe it helps if you are more specific, from this original post I can only say the game is installed and OBMM too. Tell us what mods you have, preferably post their load order. Tell us your operating system, Vista is known to have issues with the game installed on the default path. You should not try to run the game from OBMM, so I think you mean OBSE and if you use mods that need OBSE you should never start the game without it, let alone saving the playthrough. You may have corrupted savegames by now. Try making a new game and verify if it works.
David Brasher
It is painful advice, but I suggest you remove things piece by piece until everything starts working again. It is possible to have too many mods, and mods that don't work well together. If you discover that you have two groups of mods that don't get along, you might have to disable one group at a time and play the other, depending on what you want your character to do on a given day. bben46
Have you hit the mod limit? 254. Also, if you have too many unused mods in your data folder it can cause a problem. It seems that Oblivion 'looks' at every mod in the folder on load, and when you have over a certain number it causes a problem. Try moving the unused mods out of the folder and out of the Oblivion folder completely. Just making a new subfolder will not work.
Jenrai
Had this problem with Tamreilic Ingredients and Morrowind Ingredients before I realised they're the same thing. Chances are you've just got two copies of the same mod running... I know its basic so don't think I'm trying to talk to you as though you're a noob as you've likely got a lot more experience than me with modding, especially in Oblivion, however, when you install a new mod make sure to read through it and figure what it contains. Even if the ESP and conflicting texture files have been renamed, Oblivion will still have a giddy fit, and theres a lot of the newer mods that contain older ones as part and parcel of it. This seems to cause some internal conflict when the files have been renamed, and Oblivion just defaults back the vanilla version or better yet, if the textures haven't been renamed, it just refuses to start up at all.The conflict detectors usually work quite well for shooting down this kinda thing.Or it may be as Ben stated you've simply got too many. I've not quite managed to get there (yet :D ) so I don't know exactly what effect this has. ~Jen~
