zprospero
I made a custom full face mask mesh for an NPC in my mod, but I have absolutely no idea how to add aUV map, normal map, or any of the things that I need to make sure the right texture goes on the right part. Can anyone suggest some tutorials or programs that would explain this? I'm not very goodwith blender but I do have it. The mesh is a .obj file, if that matters. I'm terrible at texturing, but I'd like to have all the necessary mapping before I ask anyone to help with that.
mcole254
What program did you make it in?
zprospero
I use a program called Anim8tor. It's not as fully featured as blender but it's UI is a little less daunting.
Unavi
I would realy suggest to start using blender. I have never heard of the anim3tor but it realy doubt it is better than blender.yeah sure, it is confusing but in core it is farily simple (for the basic things). There are lots of good UV tutorials for blender. I say you should import your model in blender and make the UV map. As for the normal maps, use GIMP (if you don't have photoshop). Have you checked the CS wiki? i think it is a good starting pointhttp://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...Portal:Modeling
LHammonds
There are many tutorials on how to UV Map and none of them are "enough" by themselves to learn the process. There are many different methods and they all have a purpose and a use depending on the model. Blender 3D: Noob to Pro / UV Map Basics ( of this tutorial) UV Unwrap by GreyBeard (video download) UV Mapping and Texturing by BigTallBill (text) NOTE: This just shows the entire process...not unwrapping methods. Blender Unwrap by caleb33960768NOTE: This is not in English but you get the idea on how to use seams on your model to improve the default UV unwrap (used Monkey model) Blender Unwrap by MysticDuderNOTE: This is another Monkey unwrap but also using a reference image for proper face sizing (which I use)
zprospero
Thank you very much. I was about to abandon it, and these tutorials really helped. I'm still having a problem though. I've solved most of it, except now my mesh displaysproperly, but is just black regardless of the amount of light, it's just black. It has a .dds filewhich displays properly in NifSkope. Does anyone know what I'm missing?
zprospero
I solved it. There was no normal map. Thank you all for your help!
