kvnchrist
I remember the utter shock of the going from XM to Vista not a long while ago and now that I had to pick up a Windows 8 computer when my old Windows 7 shot craps and it surprized me just how many features they had that asked me if I would want to send information back to some central doposetory for evaluation. Is it just me or are our tech devices set up to give others as much information about us as it is supposed to bring to us? I would also like your input on what you think about Windows 8? bben46
Actually, they are more intended to send info about you and everything about you to those 'central depository' sites than they are toward doing something useful for you. The idea that the computer was primarily for your use was dropped several years ago when Google, MS, FB and the rest found they made far more money selling your info to each other, to the spammers and to the data thieves than they did selling software to you. At least Zuckerberg was honest when he said that privacy didn't really matter anymore (just before his own FB account was hijacked)
Harbringe
What we call intrusive , they the people who want our info call intuitive . Its the means by which the system becomes suited to your personal like and dislikes , also happens to be a good marketing strategy , but I'm certain that was secondary in their thinking . (yeah right). Windows 8 is just Windows 7 with a funky new way of interfacing. If you only use your computer as a work station tool or solely personal in function then I see no advantage to Windows 8 , but if its used by variety of people say the whole family , then it can have its uses . Windows 8 I think is their attempt to make an interface that just about anyone can come up and use without too much of a learning curve , probably with the idea of there being Windows consoles all over the place in the future. Beriallord
Everyone seems to be fishing for information to use for advertising purposes. And then they can sell that data to people like google. I typically conduct my internet usage in a way that throws a wrench in them collecting any relevant or useful data with regards to me. I wouldn't go as far as saying its being used for evil purposes or anything, but it still doesn't sit well with me regardless. Someone using my internet habits as a way of targeting ads tailored accordingly isn't helping me in the slightest.
