Nogford
Simply ask yourself this: is the value of Return To Ostagar anywhere near 1/8 (even 1/10) of the value of the full game?
JimboUK
It's well worth downloading, Shale is a very good character. Except for the fact that "he's" the same height as a human male. I understand the problems when fitting him through doorways, but they could've at least made him slightly larger than Sten. Shale has a backstory that explains some of that. I know. But Shale was originally much larger, and the explanation was made after the decision to size him down. And that still doesn't explain why he isn't the same size as Sten, or a tad larger. I don't see how that takes away from the character. Shale is integrated in to the story and doesn't feel like an added character at all. Also it's free. Gaias
Sadly, I don't see the inherent value of this DLC that is being offered by Bioware. I can buy an indie game or older game for the same amount and be glad for the hours more I get to play them. What I don't like about this offering is the reuse of already explored area and rehash of in-game items that are already available (with some modding). I don't see the point of returning to an area after I have finished the game, especially when it doesn't tie into the main story at all. Unfortunately, Bioware has stated that they are not trying to go for the most appeal with their DLC, as there a big enough market for them to be able to specialize their DLC offerings. I will be instead, waiting for any of the bigger expansions that are hopefully going to be coming out in the future.

Vaard
$5 is such a miniscule amount of money (its less than it would cost to feed a child in some 3rd world *piehole* for a month) that it is basically free as far as i am concerned....... Retribution
I'm not yet 18, and my dad always says I don't know the value of money, but what are you complaining about? 5 dollars is a bit exorbitant, but you can't hardly get a meal at a fast food restaurant for that. It seems like people are making a bit too much fuss over such a small amount of money.
Alexspeed
its because it not only is about the amount of stuff you get for the money, or the ammount of money you have to pay.its also about the principle of if its okay to make such micro-addons and sell them. Its a "new" business model and it needs to be debated, and everyone has to judge on its own if he wants to pay a "small" fee to get a "small" return. I for myself prefer the Addons that where common, you pay maye 20-30 bucks and get a whole new campagin with hours of new stuff.
Aria C
To Bioware DLC is a sure fire way to keep consumer interest alive in DA. It's a smart thing to do as it ensures a strong ready made audience for when or if they plan to announce a real exspansion to the main campaign. DLC sales also increase the available funds that Bioware will have in the warchest for development of any exspansions. They are releasing a wide range of content through the DLC method to appeal to not just the majority but the smaller niche's as well. Again it's a smart thing to do as it will keep a strong community and possibly serve to help the community grow immensely over time. Do not think though that Bioware has forgotten or will suddenly abandon exspansion packs. Exspansions are vital to any RPG's success not to mention the consumer base for them would be foolish to ignore. Bioware has not done that in the past and it is highly unlikely that a successful developer like Bioware would do so now despite EA. Yes the current pricing system for DLC is in question but even though Bioware pioneered the way for it with NWN it is still a learning process for them. Yes Wardens Keep was grossly misrepresented by marketing, something that many will not soon forget but remember there are bound to be flaws and setbacks along the way no one is perfect. Many of you are also forgetting the growing modding community, once the tools are firmly in place Biowares DLC will have much less appeal (to the pc market at least) putting Boware into a position where they are forced to compete with a horde of talented modders that have the skill to release mods that rival Biowares DLC. So while some are preaching doom and gloom DLC is going to ruin everything. I dont see it that way at all. If you need proof of my statements look to Bethseda. DLC was ok for them but in the end its the modding community that made the game great.

It seems like people are making a bit too much fuss over such a small amount of money. It isn't a great deal of money but it adds up over time and they are going to drag this out over two years. You'll end up paying a lot of money for not even a one games worth of content. "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" as we say over here.
