JimboUK
http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/pc-games-have-surpassed-console-games-globally/ So much for the death of PC gaming.
Vindekarr
Fantastic! I get to use this tired, forced, over-used meme twice in one day!
UhuruNUru
Problem is no one reads these forums, but thats old news it happened last Gen, Used to be New Consoles were the best you could get PC got better than it then next new console ws released. The gap got smaller until with XBox 360 and PS3 they were only = to Best PC's at release.XBox 360 was worse than PS3 but easier to program for and MS used the lead to force publishers to dumb down other releases to get the game on XBoxBoth knew the next time PC would be better which is why they held out making it so long.now it's happened it's obviousPC = 2 x PS4 = 2 x XBox (Roughly but it shows the basic idea)Why ? one word PowerConsoles max power = 300W Always will be the case always was the case.PC power has climbed steadily abnd has no max limit currently 2 Titans and all the trimmings require 1200WThat's 4 x console max and if VR takes off it will rise to six or 7 times. The truth is it's the console gaming that is dead, they know this and it's why they push Multi-media rubbish so much.Sure they use they're well oiled propaganda machine to say the opposite and they're current user superioty will last a whileBecause that's where most sales still are the Publishers and game media play ball. Watch Dogs came out yesterday and metacritic gave these scoresOfficial reviews 8 out of 10 so they can be trusted - no they're bought and paid for PC is best version no doubtUser Reviews 4 out of 10 and these preordered so were fans, if preorder fans think it's that bad who do you trust more.Fact is even if developers care publishers don't, Skyrim is typical, no dev thought releasing on 11-11-11 was a good ideaDevs generally think when the games finished is best release date. PC gamers can change this.Don't preorder publishers games ever for any game at all, just don't it's complete bull. I do pay for games up front but never preorder, I use crowdfunding to pay the Devs I believe in for the game.they get all my money not just 10% I get a game released when done, I don't care if it's a year behind schedule, if that's what's needed.Star Citizen have raised $45 Million and still climbing purely from gamers who want a AAA PC game, we don't care if it's ported to console later. It's made for top of range PC, when its finished that will be about Mid Range, anyway it's a PC game that's how itt should be made.It will run on lesser PC's but not at Max graphics, that's what graphics settings are for a new release should at minimum only be maxed on latest hardware.Better for no current hardware to handle the game on max. PC gaming is here to stay, it's consoles that have had their day! Think I should sell that sound bite to Steam
Thor.
Hail the pc master race. Might need to upgrade to 16gb of ram for watchdogs.
JimboUK
Hail the pc master race. Might need to upgrade to 16gb of ram for watchdogs. It'll run fine with 8 or 12, it's 3GB of VRAM you want, that and something to keep you awake.
Thor.
I have a gtx780 ti, so my 3gb of vram is covered, so the bottleneck is the ram. I usually hit 60fps or 80fps depending where it is, just the bottleneck is noticeable when it comes to lag.If you see my specs in my sig, i have the required specs, just the 8gb of ddr is whats holding me back. Its a simple upgrade, but the price of ddr3 has skyrocketed sense my last upgrade. If anything i should be getting a smooth 80fps at all times, no matter whats being rendered in the background. Eight wouldn't be great but it's not the issue, it the VRAM and CPU, that said it would be better with twelve. On max settings you're not going to going to maintain 60fps now matter what, the game is horribly optimised, it's like a bad port from last gen with added eye candy. Totalbiscuits dual Titans can't even maintain a solid 40fps with everything cranked up, my 3GB 7970 gets a pretty solid 30fps with everything cranked up except for the motion blur which I disable on all my games and the AA which is set at 2xMSAA, any higher and it turns into a powerpoint presentation. The game doesn't even look that good, it certainly doesn't look anything like the E3 video. Take GTA5, slap on hi res textures, a bit of AA, render at 1080p and it would look a lot better than this does.
Thor.
Its not fps, lag and microstuttering is another issue all together. i thinki even mentioned i get depending where i am 100fps-80fps-60fps at lowest, Its so off the charts its not funny. Driving is a problem when so many things start to render, like driving in the city. Fps will drop randomly do to epic micro stuttering. Its a big problam, and i am not alone on the subject, you should see the Ubisoft forums. Edited May 30, 2014 by Thor.
dave1029
Thor, you might want to check out the FPS background mod made for Skyrim. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5695/? It helped A LOT with the microstuttering I was getting for Watch Dogs and I have a very similar setup to you.
Thor.
I tried that app, it didn't work for my situation. Lag-aka-memory problem is the big problem.I agree with the user review score right about now. Its so poorly optimized its not funny. Edited May 31, 2014 by Thor.
