Omeletter
I love Oblivion. I think it is the greatest PC game ever made. I just wish there were some people I could talk about it with. Thusly, I devised the following experiment: Ok, at my school we have over one thousand kids. I thought I was the only one who knew what Oblivion was... until I drew the oblivion logo on the back of my hand. Guess how many kids recognized it? Two. Out of 1000, two. Three, if you count me. Four if you count my brother. Four out of 1000. 1 out of 250. That's pathetic. Oh, and a LOT of kids asked what it was. They have no idea what the game is.I asked a lot of random people in my school what Oblivion is, somewhere 25% of people said that they have played it and its awesome. I asked people no matter what age they were, mostly people who were 14 knew Oblivion. A lot of them use Unnecessary Violence mod, even more than Deadly Reflex!I have an idea... You just gave me it, what if on next non-uniform day at school I will put on T-Shirt with Oblivion logo on it, and ask people if they know what game this logo is from? TechnoChick
Here's an idea for finding players or maybe sparking interest: Make a T-shirt featuring a big black handprint and the words "What is the color of night?" ( either via computer-printable iron-on sheets or a silk screener, both available at WalMart ) Players will walk up to you and say "sanguine, my brother" while everyone else will just want to know what's up with your shirt, thereby giving you a perfect opportunity to tell them all about this most awesome game. This is the greatest idea for promoting stuff ever! Thanks a bunch for the awesome idea. I'm going to totally try it out. My replies to a few people: I am not trying to come across as a TV gospel person. I realize that while, yes, i do want everyone to spread the word, i was not trying to FORCE anyone to. Another Elder Scrolls is coming out, yes, however I was making a reference to another OFFICIAL expansion pack, which i know many people want. Another thing: you all remember world of warcraft? it originally was a 1 player game. however, its huge popularity drove the makers to make an ONLINE version. You see what im getting at? Yes, the game is "old" to some people. But, every time i start to think about that, do you know what i do? I hit the "new" button in the main menu and watch the intro movie. i dont start a new character, i just exit w/out saving. the only reason i do this is because the big sweeping view of imperial city is to darn awesome to ignore. everyone, right now: go watch the intro again if you havent recently. the whole thing. THEN you can come to me saying how old the game is, if you still want to call it that. Thank you all for your great ideas, guys. i really hope to see quite a few "what is the color of night" tee shirts soon. but, again, im not forcing anyone to. i hope you all didnt take any of this the wrong way. If anyone else has a good idea, please, tell me about it!
