Music in Oblivion

I don't know about you, but I always have my iTunes library playing while I play Oblivion... just takes it beyond the annoying repetitive music of the game.

So, I make this thread to ask, what beats do you like to pump the most while kickin back and playing Oblivion?

I am planning on turning all the music for SI into albums of Splashdown.

What of your most favorite bands would you like to hear in Oblivion?

This mod contains a track called Burn Them Down. It is perfect for the Oblivion Realm.

I also use a set of medieval instrumental pieces I found on Planet Elder Scrolls for the Inns, Chapels, and Castles tracks.

In Fort Ruins, I use the standard Battle music, played all the time.

In random dungeon cells like the Arena and Kvatch, I use an old standard, the dungeon music from Diablo. (Yes, I own it. I bought it in 1999, and I still have the disc.)

It makes the Seige of Kvatch sooo awesome.

But you have to use Better Music System to have music in those places specifically.

So why would I use the Battle music as standard play you ask? Simple, because I have combat detection turned off entirely.

You need Better Music System to take advantage of that particular feature. ;) Side777 was kind enough to provide me with an updated version that is better than the one on this site. :thanks:

I use a combination of music from these mods in the game:

Also Doctor Eternal has some very nice music. Search his name in the Author slot. Then search Matti Paalanen (sp?) in the description slot. If nothing music related comes up, search Matti.

I never listen to music when I play video games (except CS 1.6) becouse it's breaks the whole feeling of immersion I like to have when I play the game. I also desable ingame music.

As for bands to one I like don't realy fit with game playing :P

I mostly use things I find just about anywhere. I've got pieces of music from the London symphony orchestra, some Simcity 4 music, some from half-life 2, some from Halo, some others I had on music CD's, and other music I found in various mods for various games. Maybe the variance in music types seems a little exorbitant, but I'm happy that way.

I don't use any, just listen to the ambient sounds...but I've been thinking of putting Ensiferum as my battle music and a few of their instrumentals would make great town music :)

I have hundreds of songs from a wide variety of genres in my Oblivion music folders. Much of it might seem rather strange to people. There is a bunch of stuff I have downloaded from TES Nexus. There is Celtic, New Age, Rock, Heavy Metal, Folk, Classical, Electronica, miscellaneous video-game soundtacks, Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Medieval. I prefer tunes with no lyrics, and medieval or fantasy-type music seems to fit best.

Whatever Im in the mood for to be honest. I rarely use the vanilla oblivion music. I either turn it off or play something else.

On my old computer I replaced all the vanilla music with Billy Talent...

In video games I always use the in-game music turned down a couple of notches. The score was put there for a reason, just like you should play a game through fully before modding it you should also listen to said game's vanilla music the first time through. The money, time, effort, imagination, and brainpower it took to create the score in almost any video game (Especially in orchestral pieces) is astounding (Anyone out there who knows any little bit about Music Theory can tell you that). If you don't play the game with the intended music at least once through, you're missing out on the full experience.

Hmmm...got on a bit of a soapbox there. Anyways, I can't listen to anything other than the intended music for the game otherwise my gameplay gets so bad...the music breaks me out of the immersion of the game to the point of almost tripling my death rates, no matter what the game. For Oblivion, however, I turn all music off now that I'm on my second and third playthroughs (making them simultaneous, I am)
