For teacher - I saw some school-related resources back on ORE ;).

As for the custom races , we could say that you have been adopted , found (a basket and a letter - what a cliche :biggrin:) ,raise by the wolves . which raises an other possible situation : being the one of a kind in a city -kids won't like you , they'll make fun of you etc.

If you chose to become a thief , you should/must have an other job too as a cover. let's say that if you don't some npcs will get suspicious , as well as your parents; if you're not an argonian or a khajit , which are more assassin/thief oriented.

I also suggest extending to Elseweyr - Desserts of Anequina :biggrin:.

and how about companions ? and kids/teenageers gangs ;) . You get into one faction , the other one will hate you until you all grow up , and if they like you enough (disposition over 90) they can become your friends/companions.

I put a question mark after "teacher" for I'm not sure there are schools as we know them in Cyrodiil. I rather think people learn to read and count on their own unless they can afford a teacher. Thus I suppose a teacher's role in this mod would be teaching the rich people's children.

For the Custom races I guess it could be possible to make adoption a possible within certain families, or eventually there could be one couple of a Custom race in one of the villages. I just think that the presence should be of one couple of one Custom race in one of the 3 "basic" villages maximum. But being rejected at first can be an interesting parameter. I think it could happen as well if you're from a weird or infamous family.

The point about job cover is nice, I had thought about it for NPC but not much for the PC itself. Surely, parents would mostly be quite worried/deceived to see their child becoming a thief or an assassin. Until now I thought some parents could have some ideas about what they want their child to become (farmer, fighter, mage, dealer...) and if you do not wish to fulfill their dreams you can decide to lie to them to not deceive them/protect them. I think it's great to have to have a cover life and identity.

On the same idea I thought that it could be possible to have some romance with a character, but if you decide to start flirting with NPC of your sex you shouldn't get seen, and eventually marry someone of the opposite sex to get a cove or please your parents. However this is kinda out of mod and it would probably more suited to eventually create a seperate romance mod.

Beside this I thought it would be intersesting to force the PJ to be in character by giving it more or less answer choices. If your character is good, you get the nice/loyal/etc answers, if your character is infamous, you get the naughty/sarcastic/lies/betrayal answers. The only way to get all of the answers is to raise your Personality skill because it requires charisma to act out of character correctly enough to fool people about your true intentions. I think it would make this attribute more interesting.

About companions I thought that you could have a best friend but the gang idea is great and would be an awesome base for quests. Little children groups could turn into real gangs as kids grow. This could be a lot of fun.

For the extension in Elsweyr I suppose you think about the mod Elsweyr - Deserts of Anequina. I havent tried it yet but it looks worth trying for sure. It would be as interesting as tricky I think. It could be the possibility to become part of the Renrijra Krin and special quests related to Leyawiin could be imagined but once again it turns very specific. I think it's not something to think about now but maybe later, it's a lot of work when a lot of work has yet to be done...

Thanks for the suggestions!

And Happy New Year everybody! =)

Also I made a ridable panther a couple of weeks ago . You mentioned a beast companion somewhere.Maybe you can shrink the beast and watch it grow along with you and when you are old enough to leave it turns into a full grown panther ready to fight.

This mod caught my eye also, and might work for something I'm looking at doing. I'm not sure if anyone has said this already or if this was your intent, but if you're trying to restrict the players movements as a child, would it not be better to create a new land outside of Cyrodiil? Then you can control what the player can do in the land, and only give them access to Cyrodiil, when time and skills are appropriate. I know THAT is alot of work, and probably more than you planned to put in, but it has benifits... Since it is all about growing up, meeting people, and building your skills, it doesn't have to be a big land at all.

I believe I saw someone post something about having a big house, with a wife and kids. You could tie that into your mod also, so it pitches the idea the player left a family behind, when being dragged into the main story and plot.

It's not a bad idea but i still like the idea of the restriction.

it's more lore friendly instead of just starting on some other worldspace

As for the custom races maybe you could make them as seperate plugins?

@alonsomartinez:

About the DB I'd tend to think training children to the art of murdering would be a great deal for them, children tend to believe anything they're told so they could easily be raised in the faith of Sithis and the Nightmother and become extremely reliable members. This method worked pretty well in various totalitarist countries through History and nowadays again, sadly.

About the panther, that would be great, and having your pet growning with you would be awesome as well. I thought it could be possible to grow up a foal until it turns into a horse but a panther would be great as well. And other animals all the same. (a mudcrab pet would be fun)

@blackrose87:

It's not a bad idea and in fact I even wonder if it wouldn't be interesting to copy the cells related to the villages to create several versions, sorts of time planes, with little differences and make the villages evolve as the PC grows. However this would be a lot of work so I guess it would be done only if it's interesting regarding scripting (like you start the game in a time plane and when you grow up the game is over and you start a "new game" in the following time plane)

And for having a family and all I'm really for it. I think I yet talked about the possibility of getting a best friend companion and/or a boyfriend/girlfriend in one of the villages. I don't know if it would be possible to "seduce" NPC of the original game but in any way it would be nice to get a home and a family.

@L33Nexus:

Yes, I think plugins would be the best for Custom Races, this way people can choose which one they want to install.

@peaceandlove74:

I might take some time to be released. For now I've done a third of the level building of the village of Duskwater, exteriors and interiors.

Interiors Screenshots can be seen here

It took me less than a couple of days to do but I've got assets to do for school and school is my priority.

I am not a modder myself i was thinking of another small idea to the mod you have, How about in the beginning in addition to choosing birthsign,name,race instead of making a whole new village or villages how about just adding a new house and family to each town. So after you chose everything and you are ready to play it says which town you want to grow up in, (Skingrad, Imperial City, Anvil, ect.) Also for the alternative start to the Main Quest there is a like Pre-Main Quest where your father needs to go to the imperial city for some errands (or if you live in the imperial city you go to the imperial market district). Once you arrive in the imperial market district your father goes into a store and tells you to wait here. You stay there (unable to move) and after 5 seconds your father comes back out and says I have a very important task. Then a mithic dawn agent comes up from behind and hits your father with a blade. Your father ends up killing him but is wounded. You go home and you notice that there is a necklace (amulet of kings) on a shelf. You ask him what it is and he says that he has to deliver it to a monk after he heals. A few days later your father heals but he says he will get around to it later. Eventually he forgets. Once you are grown up your father tells you that he forgot all about delivering it and he says he is too old for the long journey so he assigned you to do it. Then you deliver it to juaffrey and instead of saying the emporer gave it to you, you say your father did. And so the main quest begins!

Also when you are grown up you have to add your class
