The Heart Of Ruhir

OOC> It makes no difference whether he goes inside or not.

Chucahau receives a very strange dream.

He imagines he is awakened by a small gap-tooth shepherd boy of about eight years old. The boy speaks in an odd manner.

"Hello. My name Panji is. This necropolis sacred to Earth is. You Aeea follow. She to Water what I a to Earth is. Watch you, we do. Help the world, you do. To help you, hard is. A little information, we have. In emergency seek us, you may. In the Water, Aeea; on land, Panji. Aethaeeos in the Air seek and Kaiaiamma in the flames of Fire. Perhaps, information we have. To call us by name, you must."

The boy vanishes and another voice sounds in his head.

"Once, millennia ago, this city was lived in. They were human although very small by the standards of today. They studied true witchcraft and worshipped me as their spiritual leader. They were extremely poor and had little to offer but scrubby turnips that grew in the arid land. And so, I became known as the Great Turnip Witch. It is a silly name, I admit, but I did not give it to myself. Those days are long past and will never return but a rump of witchcraft remains in the swamps of Ooo. It is stunted and will never again reclaim the power it once had but they are still my people. They are being turned to stone by an alien invading magic from an alien invading world. You must save them! The magic attacks this world through the Flag of Morendriel. It was woven by Dowager Queen Vrinal of the Volcano dwellers who can be found in the land of Dayone. That land has but one extinct volcano and it will not be hard to find. But the queen lost her reason when she wove the flag, tricked by an evil, evil man called Anromainyus. Now only her son can understand her. He will not help you unless you can in some way worst this Anromainyus. I do not know how it can be done but Anromainyus tricked many and some will want revenge. If you could find one of his brothers... Ruhir lived in Bashkher. Find Ruhir and perhaps he knows a way to trap his brother. Something tells me that you have started on the right path by chance. I will help if I can but I may not move beyond this city. I will tell you though you may visit me here at any time by planting the seed of a turnip and calling 'witch'. It will teleport you spiritually to my side. I do not know if I will have help or information to offer but I do know the whereabouts of the Flag when you need it. Goodbye for now."

When Chucahau awakens he cannot tell whether any of it was real or meaningful.

OOC: Sorry for my absence, was unexpectedly called to Chicago over the weekend, and I was unable to access a computer as the prices to use the internet were unreasonable.

...Wow, it seems I missed quite a bit!

Stting by the wayside while the others practice their combative abilities (or go to find a place to meditate in Chucahau's case), Khyros was recording all that had happened in his journal, as wella s continuing to try and piece together the various parts of the puzzle. Finally giving up for the moment, he overhears that the group plans to go to Dohoti by boat.

"Ah, Dohoti, that place reminds me of a pain you forget about after a while, then at the most inopportune moment it returns with more force than ever before. Sandstorms are no fun at all, especially when the people get high-strung and angry about having to clean up all the damage."

"I would also prefer to travel by boat, but such a route is undoubtedly expensive, so if you will excuse me, I'll go out and see if I can get some more money." Taking his guitar, he leaves the room into the streets. Finding the most populous area he is able, he sits down and begins playing his guitar. It is not his best performance, far from it in fact, as he is still shaken by then events that occured at the temple. Regardless, he hopes it is good enough to get them some more money for the trip, as the expenses so far seem to be quite high.

Kyrika is quite happy to follow Aldhelm and anxious not to lose sight of him in the crowd - the press of people, the noises and smells are intimidating to her, and her head begins to ache. She just wants to get the report to Desani and the purchasing of a dagger over with as quickly as possible.

She wonders whether Dohoti can be as bad, sandstorms or not!

Bharat seems confused and a little unhappy at the information.

"I have, of course, sent word that you should have free access to all temples. I do not understand anything else of what you say but I will set others looking for information on this Ruhir. You will almost certainly come back to Papred in your travels. Check with me again when you do and I will see what can tell you then. I will cover reasonable expenses in the cities you need to visit but we do not have unlimited resources. I have heard that you are looking for a dagger. Weapons in Bashkher are rare and there is really only one place that has a decent selection, the market at Colembaru. Unfortunately that is not a place I recommend you to visit. I am a collector and have three daggers. Perhaps you could choose one of them?"

He places three daggers in front of you. One is made of what appears to be a diamond blade attached to a gold hilt. The blade is very thin and narrow useful only for stabbing. The second has a broader flatter double-edged blade of a silvery metal attached to a metal hilt of a copper colour. It is the kind used for slicing back and forward. The third has a blade with one edge, slightly curved, and is of a greyish stone. The hilt is all of a piece with it.

OOC> I graduated last night! Boo Yeah! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Aldhelm wasn't too suprised by Desani's reaction to the news and is rather suprised to hear about the shortage of weapons. However, he was still not prepared for the assortment that Bharat lays before them. These knives are all much finer and probably more expensive than any he has ever seen. Obviously, the blade shortage hasn't stopped collectors all together.

As he gazes at the weapons, he realizes that the first two are customized for a specific purpose and the last is more like his own than he thought.

Turning to Kyrika as she gazes at the three blades, he gives her his advice. "If you want to customize your training into either stabbing or slicing with these blades, pick either of the first two, respectively. The third will give you more flexibility in its use but will take away from training time for specific skills. So do you want to be a master of one technique or a expert at several? The choice is yours and I will train you to the best of my abilities based on your choice."

When Chucahau awakens, he feels more exhausted than refreshed, not as if he had meditated and slept, but rather as if he had tried to perform one of the long and wearisome rituals that grant him contact to Aeea. His thoughts are in disorder, and various pictures, memories of his ... dreams pop up in his mind.

Aeea ... that queer boy had spoken about her. There had been other names - Panji, that was what the boy had called himself. He had spoken about the elements, had claimed that there were others like Aeea, that he indeed was equal to her himself. What should he make of that? He knew the truth, that there were none equal to or above the Mother Goddess. Was this dream a foul demon's temptation? What had been the other names? Kaiaiamma had been one, the other ... it had sounded a bit similar to Aeea, but it had been longer - he couldn't quite remember. Chucahau ponders the dangers implied if he has really attracted some demon's or other vile creature's attention - or did it arrive with him in Papred when they returned from the temple?

His second dream had some connection to their task ... the name, Ruhir, it had appeared in the speech of the bodiless voice that had called itself - what had it called itself? It had been some kind of ... witch, whatever that word meant, but what been the word before? Tulip? He was sure it had sounded as if it was some kind of plant, an edible plant, but none he knows from his homeland. The voice had claimed that they would be able to contact it again by planting that thing and saying "witch" - but why should they contact it? It had spoken of a flag, and claimed that it was important to their quest, there had been a name connected to it: Anromainyus. The voice had claimed they would have to find this Anromainyus, and that Ruhir might help them - Chucahau has a vague feeling that these names had appeared in Kyrika's recollection of the events at the temple as well, but he isn't sure anymore in which context they had appeared. But what was the reason why they should find Anromainyus, and what had been the importance of that flag? The voice had spoken about another land, with a volcano - but the name does not come to Chucahau's mind.

Perplexed by the number of questions, unclear parts of his memory and the uncertainty of whether he should pay much attention to anything of all this, Chucahau remains where he has awakened for a moment.

Maybe the dreams he has had are important, maybe an immaterial force wants to help him and his group. Then he should not take these dreams too lightly. But it is just as probable that an evil mind intends to trick him. Or possibly everything he has dreamt is a phantasm that has arisen from his perturbed state of mind after the incidents at the sea temple.

Finally, Chucahau decides that he cannot keep all this to himself, but that he should also approach the topic not too directly. Maybe he can gather some hints first that allow him to draw conclusions regarding the meaning of these visions. If he can find clues that his dreams are not simply woolgathering, he will share this strange experience with the rest of his group.

He rises and returns to the tavern, still engrossed in thoughts.

Kyrika looks at the daggers Desani presents to her, and after long deliberation picks the grey stone one. "I like the look of that one," she smiles at Desani and thanks him for the gift. "Though I do hope that I won't have to use it."

She turns to Aldhelm. "I am eager to begin learning how to wield this blade - do you think there will be time for you to instruct me once we have returned to the others, and before we leave for Dohoti? Unless there is something else you think we need to purchase in preparation for the trip?"
