The Heart Of Ruhir

Kane looks slowly and slightly crouched, this helps to absorb incoming blows and get to places where he usually couldn't, not to mention where he usually wouldn't be able to hit. His eyes scan the area and more importantly the walls, the grumbles emitting from him is enough to tell anyone that he wasn't 100% trusting the place or the sudden appearance of the girl, he stands his ground and shows that he isn't afraid to defend himself or his friends but also shows that he wouldn't be the first to attack.

He would allow the others to talk and glances upwards for a moment to take note of Kryika's location, he then concentrates on the girl and anything else near her that moves, her eyes made of polished stones...that would usually make any unfit warrior or adventurer run away or freeze in fear yet Kane just stands there somewhat feeling sorrow, he shakes his head and grunts before waving infront and noticing no reaction, he smirks and whispers to Aldhelm.

"I don't think she can see us...though this place...I think it has eyes all around it"

He grins not being able to resist the predictable lame joke and waits for something to happen, reminding himself to not go head first into an attack due to what happened last time..if that did ever happen

The girl's head moves to look towards where Aldheim's voice came from.

"Yes. I should be polite. My name is Bren. You have met Ruhir? I hope he is still searching. It is a long wait with only poor Daro for company."

She sighs and then as if in a dream she continues.

"He was so - loving. He adored my eyes. He said he would make me immortal through my eyes. And on the day we were to be married I let him take them. Or, well, I didn't really let him. He drugged me and took them himself. But he didn't kill me. He wouldn't do that. I was by a stream but I couldn't see. I fell in..."

After a pause she adds. "He has gone to find what is needed to make us both immortal. And then I shall be with him forever. But if he has not sent you, why have you come to see me? What can a poor ghost know that would interest you? Or did Daro send you?"

She suddenly seems agitated.

After Aldhelm's brief questions, he is quite alarmed by the events that quickly unfold.

The skeletal figure with the beautiful eyes responds, "Yes.

With the completion of this, the girl begins glancing around as if frightened or worried.

Aldhelm, fearing this girl will do as the one they have already encountered has, begins to immediately try and calm the girl down.

" No, no, nothing has happened to Ruhir or Daro. They have not sent us and we have no idea about the success or failure of the quest. I have great hope for his success. However, we do need to find them. So as to what " a poor ghost " will be able to help us do is something that apparently no one else can, help give us information to where Ruhir may be headed next in his search. We have lost the trail of his quest before he reached you but have found what we believe is his trail but it has yet again gone cold. We were hoping that someone like you might have talked with Ruhir and from there determine where to look for him next. That is all. If you could help us, we might be able to help Ruhir find what he needs to get you your immortality faster. "

Kyrika-bat flitters around the ossuary, keeping to the shadows, exploring the area as thoroughly as is possible for a bat. If she discovers anything worthy of note she will have to tell her companions about it later, when she is back in human form.

The girl sighs. "How can I help you? I have been here for... It seems a long time. Maybe Daro, he's around somewhere on the level above this. Did he not say hello?"

She sounds unhappy and a tear of blood oozes from behind one of the stone eyes. "He won't have forgotten me but what if something has happened to him? Have you checked at his house?"

Above Kyrika finds nothing but an acute awareness of human mortality.

As she passes through the second level, she notices a boy lying down beside the trapdoor to the Ossuary. He is clearly listening to what is going on below. He looks a little startled but smiles as she flutters past him but she is quickly through into the temple itself. It is as still and empty as ever. The boy, who looks to be about seventeen has one of the sweetest smiles she has ever seen.

After he has asked his question, Aldhelm is relieved to see Kyrika flit back towards the upper level. If they can't calm this spirit down, Aldhelm doesn't want Kyrika anywhere near the fighting.

Turning back towards the spirit, Aldhelm is relieved by the apparent calmness.

Yet again worried the ghost might break up into hysterics, Aldhelm again tries to keep her calmed down. " The information you have already provided is much help to us. We have no idea as to the success or failure of Ruhir so far but we do believe he is still actively searching. There is something important we must find him and discuss. Therefore, we have been looking for him. We have been unable to find records of his last location so we have been talking with people who know him trying to determine his whereabouts. Perhaps, he and Daro both are at his house. However, we do not know where his house is. If you could give us directions, perhaps we may finally be able to catch up with Ruhir. "

"Well - it is a long way from here. East I think. We went by boat. It was on an island. It was very beautiful with gardens that came right down to the water's edge. There were statues of mysterious beasts all along the roof. Ruhir told me they held a secret but wouldn't say what it was. It was built in the shape of a key..."

As she speaks you realise that what she is describing is what you have already seen under the name of Sea Temple in Papred.

Costanta had advised you to talk to Bren and Toman but the only two pieces of information that sound remotely useful are the secret held by the carved animals and that he allowed no one into the lowest level of the house.

Suddenly she adds: "When he last spoke to me he told me the ritual was almost ready. He needed only the heart and that was promised to him. Yet he sounded uncertain. When I asked him why he wouldn't at first tell me. Then he said he was not sure if he trusted this person. He wouldn't give me a name but said I had met the man. But he never introduced me to his other friends. There were only three he could have meant, Toman, Anromainyus, one of his brothers, or his advisor. He had three advisors but two were women I can't remember the advisors' names. I didn't pay much attention. I just wanted to be near Ruhir."

Aldhelm slowly realises that there is nothing potentially violent in this spirit, if spirit it is, just an overwhelming sadness.

From the information you have you can guess that Ruhir was tricked. It was not by Toman, whose remains are in Golconar. Perhaps Toman or Costanta when you meet her again in Ippikander will tell you the advisor's name. The unsettled spirits will only be stilled if Ruhir gets his heart and finding it is important. But Ruhir is clearly ruthless and amoral, you should not release him until you know he can be controlled. And the answers lie within the ancient temples.

"I can tell you no more. Talk to Daro."

The girl looks in your direction. "Toman was a fighter. He may be angrier that I am. Please take care." And then the girl is a skeleton separating as it had collected of its own volition. The bones return to their positions in the Ossuary. It is silent and still.

Kane raises an eyebrow before he hmm's to break the silence yet doesn't move from his position just incase the girl had any other "visitors", after a moment or two he places his sword back within its holder and stands tall cracking his neck while glancing at Aldhelm.

"that "house" she mentioned and the key...sounds like that sea temple...GAH why did I have to get roped up in something confusing!"

He grunts and begins walking towards the exit yet continues speaking as he moves.

"hmm anyone up for visiting this Toman guy...looks like me and him can speak to one another without the "bloody tears" or the violent outbursts of skeletons...after all we are both fighters and if he is anything like I have heard then he would uphold the honour of fighting...either that or we ask that mage woman...Costantine? Costanta...whatever her name was about Ruhir's advisors"

He shrugs towards no one in particular and continues walking back the way he came to find the exit as it seems there is nothing else of interest within the place...except Kane was wondering what the girl was on about when she meant Daro or somebody was on the above level, he shrugs it off again and will have to ask Kyrika if she noticed anything.
