Malchik
The boy nods at Kane. "It is strange that somehow I have been alive for thousands of years. But I cannot be immortal. Much though my brothers and the mages they merged with desired it, they had not found out how to do it. Why I live I don't know. Unless it's because the rest of me still lives somewhere else? What I have decided in this long - incarceration - is that if you seek immortality you will find it hateful. Because you will soon learn that every experience you have will be one less new thing - and the list IS finite. Whereas if you just go on from one day to the next and simply don't die, you can cope." He suddenly seems more focussed. "But you want help from me. What help can I give? I know only what my mind has worked out." He pauses. "I have sensed something new - something strange in the ether. It is as if the balance of reality has been changed. Is that what worries you? Is that what brings you here?" And then as if he understands he adds. "Ah! You need the new me! Ruhir!" He smiles. "That is good. It means he has failed to become immortal. I like that idea. Must be trapped somehow? One of his 'brothers' perhaps? Well!" He thinks for a moment. "To become fully immortal he needed five things; life essence, a body, a brain, a heart and eyes. He took the eyes from poor Bren, whose bones lie below, and he has most of my life essence. What does he not have?"
ixnos
Kane blinks as he listens, staying quiet but picking his gold and talismans up before he forgets them, he then returns to his leaning position and in a blunt tone says. "A heart and that's in more ways than one...as far as we know...he has the eyes, life essence, a body...I believe a brain but he has no heart...personally I couldn't care less yet my...client and boss feel my presence and skills are needed here...as you can pretty much tell I am a mercenary...though no matter how much I hate to admit it...they and this situation grows on me...we could do with knowing about your...brothers since if we run into them...well don't know what will happen but if they ain't immortal then I won't hesitate to slice them...and anything else about Bren and the other victims could help" He grunts at the others, he wasn't one for talking much yet it seemed to be him doing all the talking and he thought Aldhelm was the chatterbox of the group, Kane then sighs and continues. "What do you know of this Toman? we've been told by Constanta and Bren that he is a fighter and Ruhir has taken his body and also where we can contact him, though if you know if he is hostile and such that would help greatly...or if you would happen to know where Ruhir would be or go" In his mind Kane was more confused than anything, too many things flying about and other things just not fitting or making sense yet he didn't want to show this just because he didn't want the hassle
DragonDudeAW
OOC> Sorry for the lack of posting been packing for college after I recuperated from the wisdom teeth. Chatterbox, huh??????? Only because no one else was posting :P LOL On Topic > Breathing a sigh of relief as the "ghost" appears, sitting down and restrapping his satchel, Aldhelm listens quietly and patiently while the boy, not Dharo but Ruhir himself, if that is explainable, tells them of his misfortune and what the new Ruhir needs to be truly immortal. He is trying to choose his questions carefully while he listens to Kane's questions. After Kane's first bout of questions, the boy begins to answer. He took the eyes from poor Bren, whose bones lie below, and he has most of my life essence. What does he not have?" After quietly waiting on Kane's responses and answers he decides to ask his questions. " I am very interested in this unbalance you mentioned earlier. It has made some of my friends and I quite nervous as it has changed and distorted magics we have relied on for centuries. It is changing things not meant to be changed and the results are not good." " We would like to know how to catch this other "you", and if his capture would result in the rebalancing of the ether. Apparently he has all that I know of except a brain. Were we to apprehend him before he could capture another we his apparently trying to do, would this cause the ethere to rebalance? Or will it only be balanced when Ruhir and his brothers are dead and their immortality ended? My main concern is to balance the ether and hopefully you as a spirit might know how to rebalance the ether. "
Malchik
Daro places his hand on Aldhelm's cheek. The hand is solid and warm. "I am not a spirit." He looks at Aldhelm. "I have been confined here but my mind is free. I will tell you what I believe happened. My brothers were not the happy unit they pretended they were. Each wished to be the only one to attain immortality. One of them tricked Ruhir and he has probably tricked the other brothers but he has not attained his desired immortality. This imbalance is not natural. Someone has caused it. And I believe the only way to balance it again will be to seek out and destroy this brother." He looks around for the bat. "Where is your friend?" Then he goes on. "The brother, I suspect it must be Anromainyus but I don't know for sure, will be too powerful for mortals alone. But he has not killed his brothers, well not Ruhir at least. I think to face Anromainyus you will need at least one of his brothers. That is why you need Ruhir." He glances from Kane to Aldhelm. "Ruhir is thoroughly evil. If you release him into this world uncontrolled you will wish you had killed yourselves. You will need with you and supporting you all those of whom he is made. By the sound of it Costanta is already on your side but you must check again when you meet her in Ippikander. I will help you and will persuade Bren. Toman, who can say? And there is one more way you can get help. If it was Anromainyus. he relied very heavily on his advisers. They would be best to tell you who to use to complete Ruhir. Persuade Toman and the first part is done. Costanta will know more than I about the advisers. Bren and I will be ready when you need us."
ixnos
Kane smirks tapping his holder lightly that holds his sword before returning his arms to the folded stance they had, he glances around for Kyrika when Daro questions where she is yet she is no where to be seen, he shrugs and lifts off the wall. "She was the first to be contacted by Constanta, I think she may have gone out for some fresh air...you know how lasses "get"...though Toman, Bren said he was a fighter and his statue we saw certainly shows he was a knight of somesort...if he can't be persuaded by words then I know he will be persuaded by honour and loyalty...I maybe a mercenary but even I follow certain morals from time to time but how do we contact you when we need you? I mean do we just call your names or is there a certain place we must meet you?" He grumbles slightly, he hated showing concern for his father said it shows weakness and a weak spot within the defence, he shrugs this off since this wasn't the time to be worrying about that, though he was thinking on how to show honour and loyalty to Toman if he couldn't be persuaded with words. Malchik
"When you are ready come back here. Alternatively we could travel with you but I think an ambulatory skeleton and a youth who at times becomes transparent might cause more problems than they'll solve. If you are going to Golconar and Ippikander you pretty much have to come back this way anyway." He looks around. "I have special words for your shape-changer if she would hear them!" ThetaOrionis01
Kyrika has hovered in the background, still getting over the surprise that this boy is able to identify her as a shape-shifter. Now, hearing him ask for her, she steps forward hesitantly. "How did you know that I was that bat?" she asks, genuinely curious.
Malchik
Daro laughs. "I told you I don't quite know what I am. In that ritual in which I became Ruhir, something of the wizard was left with me. It is why I know what is happening outside the temple, though I have never left it. And it is how I knew you were a shapeshifter." He smiles at her. "There is something you can do that these cannot. I understand from overhearing the talk you had with Bren that you have visited my home. When I learned of the ritual they wanted me to undergo and before I refused I stole a copy of the book and hid it in a secret chamber in the wall of the well. It was wrapped in a waterproof skin. I am sure the swamps have reclaimed most of the property but if you can swim and find it you might be able to learn how to reverse the ritual. Or you might pretend you can. But you will need to breathe and see in water for a long period. Wizards have spells but they wear off. If you could be a fish? Once it is located, a wizards spell would let one of you retrieve it. Since that is where you will summon Ruhir you will have to go back."
DragonDudeAW
OOC> Sorry for the long heitus, but I just got settled into my dorm. As a matter of fact, my first class ended abut half an hour ago. Waiting a little while until after Daro speaks so as nto to cut anyone off, Aldhelm decides to speak up. " Daro, I must tell you this. When last we ventured to the temple, which you say we must return to in our quest to get Ruhir into our service, we were not warmly greeted. In fact we were attacked by strange entities that disappered, as did all traces of our battle with them, shortly after we tried to communicate with them. I felt strange and perverted magics flowing through that place. Can you telle either how to guard ouselves from such an attack on our return or perhaps tell us how to end these attacks for good? I myself am not terribly fond of being attacked when I have done nothing wrong. "
Malchik
"Yes, I feel the sickness in the magic. I cannot be sure but I believe you must thwart Anromainyus and destroy his power. And to do that you will need all his brothers. But there will be different groups like yours searching in other lands for the other brothers. When all are free they will need to meet and together confront Anromainyus. Yet not one of them is fit to be alive and, as with Ruhir, sensible, uncorrupt humans will have to have control over each one. It seems your task is to free but control Ruhir and I have told you what must be done. Bren and I will support you. You must get Toman and Costanta too. And find anything you can from Anromainyus's three advisers. Ruhir will have to have a human heart to live. The advisers will help you get the heart that will give YOU the advantage." Daro thinks for a moment. "What happened to you where I lived is odd. But you must remember Ruhir will have experimented with hundreds of victims. Perhaps they attack anything? I do not think those attacks are to do with the imbalance. That they leave no trace...perhaps. But should you not be seeking Toman, Costanta and the others. Golconar, the city of Beauty. I never got there. Well, I will be here when you need me. I am always here." The faint note of emptiness in these words is the first suggestion that he is not as happy and carefree as at first appeared.
