ixnos
Kane stands up and stretches, he wasn't one for sitting down all day, he preferred leaning against something or actually doing something, as he stretches he rolls his shoulders hearing his back crack, moments after he cracks his neck and then his knuckles before glancing towards the Nyobian and the Jourtresian, he then calls over to them hearing slight mutters of something about "certainly powerful enough to have me found". "While I'm around, no one shall lay a finger upon any of you...no matter how stuck up or annoying you are...I may moan and insult...appear to be rude and whatever you wish to think of me but we are all here for a reason and we are here to work together...and every Jourtresian's service should be for everyone...not just the one person...priest" Kane snorts at his own kind, ever since he could remember he hated most of his own kind turning to those that he didn't believe in, either he had been away from Jourtres when these demonic creatures appeared or he was the one being mistakened as a demonic creature since Kane had no memory of anything like that...due to the many fighters in the capital, anyone to even think of attacking must have been suicidal, once war begins anything such as politics or religion is thrown out the window and every Jourtresian bounds together to fight off the evaders. Kane shakes this off for the moment and decides to answer the question posed to the group. "You will only need one coil of long rope...have the strongest hold it at the top while the others climb down...I can jump down, my legs have built up enough resistance over the years...as for pickaxes and shovels? when you have hands the size of these you tend to not need shovels...as for pickaxes...well I think we have a few Axe wielders around here so just use theirs" Kane smirks pacing back and forth for something to do, the ale not effecting him the slightest, not even a slight wobble. dragonben
Shaka Listening to what Kane tells him Shaka takes it all in and decides to heed the advice, "I'll watch and learn, being a scholar foremost, but I will need to be able to hold my own as I plan on investigating much of what I hear about and that might take me into hostile places." with that Shaka walks over to the map and start to copy it into his tome. Taking his papers he ads the following to his list. Latern + oilstring (his grand dad taught him a bit about setting snares and primitive traps)Phail of mild acidsling + some small stones (20)Clothes (for the different regeons they will visit)Tinder boxsome waxSpy tubemagnifing glass With that Shaka states that he will go to the library aswell, you never know what manner of intellectual treasure you might find in ancient libraries. Morgoth
Chucahau turns to Kane: "Oh, I agree with you. But there are always disreputable exceptions to such noble rules. I for one know a person whose service is only to those who are generous with their money." Without waiting for a reaction (and ignoring any further remarks by Kane, except if Kane decides to use bodily force on him), he turns again to Kyrika. "Yes, please, let us take down the information required from me, and then return to the others for now. We have a bit better understanding of each other already, we may continue our conversation later on." He specifies all information about himself that is needed, and also dictates the items he needs to Kyrika. Lists to be added later on
Malchik
OOC> I am not intending to RP the trip to the two archives unless requested since there is little to do but gather info I have to give you anyway. However if the intention is that the party splits up and the others visit the Sea Temple I will have to Role Play it. It won't matter to me or to the rpg which you choose to do. ThetaOrionis01
Kyrika writes down the details Chucahau dictates to her, then hands the parchment to him. "Here is your list. I think Khyros is collecting them, but perhaps we should all spend a few minutes to make sure that we have what we may need?" She quickly adds to her own list of required equipment: - medicine against fevers and disease, ideally in powdered form to take up less space- wooden bowl- spoon She walks up to the table where the map is being displayed. "Would it be an idea to make copies of this map, in case our group decides to split up for some reason, or in case some members of our party become separated from the others? I also noticed a map of the city on the wall, and took the liberty of removing it. Perhaps we can also copy that, should the landlord object to us taking the map." //OOC Thanks to Baba-John for e-mailing me the map :) // She takes a deep breath, wondering whether she should mention the thoughts she had about equipment, or whether that would be perceived as her being bossy. But perhaps etiquette is less important than the success of their mission, and so she decides to speak. "Forgive my ignorance, but when Desani's servant mentioned the towns we are to travel to I had some thoughts as to some additional equipment we might need. I am certain you have already thought of it, and I think I heard Kane mention that he carries rope." She rattles off a list of the towns, and the equipment she thought might be useful there. "It seems to me that not all of us need to carry lamps or pickaxes, and that perhaps some items would best be purchased nearer our destinations. Perhaps Lord Valantius would be able to tell us more. For instance, if the Golconari are plagued with disease, would their healers not know best how to combat their afflictions?" She pauses, hoping she hasn't given offence. "And it also occured to me that it may be wise to have more than one lamp, and more than one piece of rope among our party - we do not know what we may encounter. Packs may be lost. Perhaps we should add a general list of items needed to the lists we all compiled?" She smiles. "I fear my inexperience in adventuring matters must be painfully obvious to all. I hope that one of the more experienced travellers among us will take it upon himself to look over everybody's list, and to make sure our party has everything we may require on our travels. If it would be of help, I would be happy to make crude copies of the map meanwhile." She places the map of Papred she has taken from the wall on the table. Kheskeim
A scout? Kheskeim thinks to himself as he watch Kain slam his mercenary talisman on the table. He has never seen full blood fighters like those present before, specifically the types that Kain belonged to. It startles him a bit but he is also intrigued by it. Bashkher was for the most part a very peaceful country and hardly anyone has their line of business primarily in the warmongering sector - not officially anyway. Quite a few work as guards for people and commerce though. When fighting did happen, it was usually the hordes of poor people revolting against the rich; a quick and brutal divide wealth action that left the rich either fleeing or dead. I wonder if this country has ever seen fighters of this calibre... "Scouting might not be my normal speciality, but I agree I am probably fitting this role best of us here. Most of the scouting will probably be done in peaceful areas anyway... " - he continues and tell them of what he just thought; of the peaceful state of the country, of uprisings and the lack of armies and mercenaries besides those protecting goods and rich people. "I hail from Biksinder, the second biggest city in Bashkher and also one of the most beautiful ones. I would say it would be next to Papred in having famous buildings and sights. It is also one of the only cities to have forts. The Valantius family inhabit and own one of these, but whereas in times of old its prime function was defence of the city and housing a military force, it is today almost fully reduced to a centre of commerce." Kheskeim hesitates but continues: "My family have long been one of the prime defence and fighting capable forces in Biksinder and indeed the whole northern country, but alas today most look down upon skills of the warlords and fighters. Officially we have been forced to act almost completely in alleys of commerce to avoid being overrun by those, who think we're to the ill of the city and themselves. Unofficially, we of course have kept our ways closer to those of ancient times, because of family traditions and experiences of unreadiness from the past." He sighs. "With this new threat to the cities you should think people would appreciate protection and capable people's aid. Unfortunately this new tradition of pacifism is now deeply rooted and I fear it can potentially result in a smoking ruin of a country, if they do not wake up from their dreams." He turns the head to look at Kyrika. "I do not know of Golconar from my own experience, since I have not set foot there. There are many myths in this country and if this one about that city is right or not, we will see. Healers are, as are magicians, just as misunderstood as fighters in these lands - if not more so! For your own good you should be very careful of displaying any ... irregular behaviour in public or even to just a few people. Before you know it, you will be dragged to the stake and burnt or stoned to death in sick rituals front bannered by one of the many cults. Some even think they are granted immortality and a rich afterlife from 'keeping the world clean' of foul magics, and what else they can conjure up in their minds. To me and indeed all of the Valantius family this is a terrible aspect of Bashkher mentality, and supporting those ways has been done very secretly for a long time. But to answer your question more precisely Mlady; I doubt many healers will be found in Golconar - infact I think that might be part of the cause of the problem, if indeed it is as bad as rumoured." He adds with a grim look: "Indeed also, were we to 'receive too much attention' in any city here, we should immediately leave or at least lay low for awhile. If you have not seen what hordes of brainwashed people can do, then think the worst and multiply it by seven. It would seem the lesser fortuned are in constant search of someone to blame their misery on." He shudders and looks out the window. "I think we should visit that Sea Temple and the archives. Do we have a finished list? Weapons/armour and special items we should get here, smaller and more common things, we should be able to get in any bigger city. If we're a bit lucky Mr. Desani will provide us with enough gold to keep a ship under our command for the whole journey... thus being able to store most of the gear there and not needing to carry too much in the heat." I am not going to wear that armour unless I really need to... OOC: Sorry about the late and long post here guys. Was eager to get back into it hehe. WereWolf531
"Well, I've got a few of these reports, and probably enough to keep Bharat happy. So whenever you're ready I'm all set to get this started. Let me just add a few last minute necessities to buy." He then adds to his list of things to buy: a piece of flint (for starting fires and sharpening weapons)1-3 torchesa roll of linen or some kind of cloth for bandagesinsect repellantextra guitar string (just in case)rope (in case we each need our own)a bottle of ink and a few extra quills
ThetaOrionis01
Kyrika listens to Kheskeim's speech. "Indeed, I have no wish to attract attention to myself - even in Niyobi I learnt to hide my shapeshifting ability. I always found it best to keep out of sight as much as possible. Perhaps my countrymen are subtler in their ways of... dealing... with those of special abilities, but for those who possess those talents, the outcome is not pleasant in Niyobi, either." She does not like dwelling on this topic - it is one that has haunted her for too long - and changes the subject abruptly. "So, Golconar. If indeed the place lacks healers then we must make sure to supply ourselves with medicines while we have access to them. I would hope that Desani would know what would be of most use to us. Is anyone among our party skilled in the arts of healing who may advise us on what medical supplies we should carry? It would be generous indeed if Desani were to put a ship at our disposal - if this is not possible, perhaps his agents could at least book passage to our next destination for us? Tomorrow, the Sea Temple - where after that?" She tries to stifle a yawn. "I fear I am greatly fatigued. The heat in this place is sapping my energy, and unless there is more to discuss I would very much like to retire." Kyrika looks at the others, hesitant to leave in case they wish to discuss their plans further.
Morgoth
"I thank you for your kind help," Chuchau says to Kyrika as she hands him the two lists. Glancing over the sheets, he tries to read what Kyrika has written down for him, but he can only make out some syllables, the rest is guess-work based on the knowledge about what he has told Kyrika to write down. He makes a mental note to ask Kyrika on their journey (when they have some leisure time during the travels from one place to the other) to explain him the character system used in Bashker. After he has done this, he follows Kyrika's advice and joins the others at the table, and hands his lists to Khyros. list of needed items some gold to make ends meet (Chucahau has no real idea about the worth of gold in civilisation, but he has understood that it is used to buy things)lighter clothes that allow to cover one's entire body (while he is ignorant of the meaning of coldness, he does know that one must protect his skin from sand)additional durable food and drinkadditional darts for the blowtubedagger made of metal (Chucahau's been able to inquire what the name of that mysterious material is)torches "I will be thankful," he addresses Khyros "if you can also have another look at this list. This land is so completely different from my homecountry that I have barely an idea what I shall need on our journey. I trust that you and our companions can judge this much better."
