Malchik
OOC> Sorry guys I have been ill for three days and had limited posting opportunity. Better now. On topic When Khyros opens the door you can see the three statues immediately. They are 'glowing' oddly. Against the back wall a woman in a loose gown has her head tilted and a hand raised as if conversing. The face is of a woman past her prime. She might have been beautiful in her youth. She is smiling but there is something triumphant in her smile that is not totally appealing. The glow is purple. The statue to the right is of a handsome youth in armour. He has his sword raised to slay an invisible enemy. His expression is one of total disdain as if he regarded the world as insignificant. The glow is golden. The statue to the left is of a girl wearing oddly formal clothes. She is pretty but has an overly innocent or naive expression. This statue glows a reddish brown colour. In the centre of the room is a plain black stone plinth that looks as if intended for another statue. From where you are standing you cannot see if there is anything written on the plinth. WereWolf531
Taking a moment to take in the surroundings, Khyros starts walking towards the black plinth, his torch casting shadows around the room as he walks. "It looks safe at the moment," he calls back to the others. He knows that, given the situation, there must be more to these objects than meets the eye, something hidden so that years of explorers or tourists wouldn't find it. He resolves to check each statue, thinking back to the people in the city who were turned to stone. Could the same have happened to these statues? Pausing a moment, he takes out his journal and quill, ready to take notes of what he discovers.
ixnos
OOC: aye sorry for not posting as much, been mega busy job seeking which has finally paid off...have a interview tomorrow so thought I would post now before getting wrapped up in real life again Kane followed Khyros into the place, drawing his longsword like he normally would when entering an unknown place, he grunts as he instantly spots the woman at the back wall, muttering under his breath so the others can hear that they may not be alone, either that or his eyes are already playing tricks on him. Kane walks with side strides, his outer side of his feet facing front ways while he moves, this is to give him better resistance to a sudden ambush or attack where he could absorb the impact through his sword and using his feet as shock absorbers so he can react by springboarding upwards while using the impact as momentum...he always uses this tactic to knock his enemies off balance or when there is a chance of an ambush. He also uses it for when hired to protect someone. He glances at the statues, they seemed to look life like as the torch flickers, the shadows dancing upon the statues' features, Kane wasn't liking this one bit, he didn't care for the lore, myths or legends but if they were walking into somewhere unknown, that would mean they have the disadvantage and not knowing what is around the next corner, not to mention they didn't know if the statues were really statues or not, however that could be just Kane exaggerating the worst yet it could be a possibility...he knew of people who were trained to do such things...to act still and not move which made it easier to train them into spies and he only knew of them due to actually nearly being killed by them on one of his missions. The problem was that, the person he was hired to kill was infact of such high ranks and wealth that death stood on every corner for him, due to the man's paranoia, he hired guards and spies...the guards were easy yet the spies became such a problem that Kane is proud to where their scars and carries one of their talismans, not just for a reminder but also to gain information from time to time. The spies were the elite of their group, they blended into their surroundings, even a mage with the power of illusion would have been put to shame...these spies never blinked, sneezed...just nothing until the time called for it...one acted as a corner lamp, another was a statue and the last was the nobleman's foot stool. The nobleman and the spies heard the ruckus and slaughters of the guards, screaming, gurgling, bashing and crashing yet it wasn't that part that has them worried...the silence is what worried them...several minutes later Kane came busting through the door and looked like a demon coming out of a pool of blood wielding a sword...however due to not knowing about the spies, Kane took a few steps towards the nobleman, only to find the foot stool move throw a dagger towards his heart...seeing the attack Kane shifts himself so the only damage is to the arm...this was the first mistake...if the stool didn't move, Kane wouldn't have been alerted. This shown the other two not to move, leaving the foot stool spy to battle alone..moments later he was dead and Kane was moving towards the nobleman...now the lamp spy moves, slashing Kane's back with a sword and then the statue moved in for the kill...Kane now battled two on one while keeping tabs on his target...a fierce battle, two dead bodies and an execution later, Kane left, grabbed his earnings and continued with his job. After remembering all this, kane relays his experience to the others...just making them weary that the statues may not appear so innocent and that maybe the hooded woman at the back maybe using them to send all the others mad or even kill them...Kane knew it sounded farfetched yet he knew anything was possible and he wasn't about to get crushed by movable stone if his warning wasn't taken seriously. Malchik
OOC> Sorry if it was not clear, the woman at the back is one of the statues. Kane reaches the furthest statue. It seems to fascinate him.
Morgoth
OOC> Sorry for the absence, beginning of the semester has kept me from posting here. Chucaha would have been interested in what kind of priest(s) (i.e. which cult, mostly) had been living at the temple - his actions will depend on that. WereWolf531
OOC: So, does my character find anything? fall into a trap? make some discovery? come on people, POST!
Malchik
OOC> You might well discover something but apart from Kane no one has given any indication of what they are doing. If no one can contribute to the rpg I can close it and merge those who want to go on with group A. They could do with a Shallaran at this point! Both Morgoth and Titanania have said they wish to go on but don't seem to have time to post. Ixnos has posted but for the three others I have no idea. ThetaOrionis01
///OOC - sorry.. Oblivion and Whitby preparations are taking up too much time!/// Kyrika edges into the room, keeping to the walls at first, until she has convinced herself that there is no immediate danger. Then she wanders up to each statue, and studies each in turn. She also checks for inscriptions on the plinths. She sneers at the golden statue. 'Who does he think he is?' The purple statue makes her shiver. 'I don't like her... whoever this statue is depicting, she can't have been a nice or kind person in life.' But the reddish brown statue of the girl evokes a sense of pity in her. 'So lifelike... she looks as though she was snared... lured to this temple on some pretext or other, and turned to stone. Hesitantly she reaches out to touch the statue. If nothing happens, Kyrika will turn to study the black plinth. "Perhaps we should make a note of the colours of the statues, and the way they are arranged around the room," she suggests in a whisper. "Maybe we can detect a pattern, once we have been to a few more temples." Her voice is not as steady as she would like - she feels as though she is being watched. Malchik
OOC> Two of you are in the room with the statues. Where are the rest of you?
WereWolf531
OOC: Yeah, I've been reading their adventure and a Shallaran seems to be in high demand right about now, and a music festival is just icing on the cake. In case the others do not post or something to similar effect, go ahead and move me over to the other one, there's not much progress here at the moment. (we're 18 pages behind them!)
