pennox
Hi everyone! I tried searching google and this forum but didn't find an answer to my problem. I'd like to create shadows in an exterior cell. An invisible Object (preferably a plane) that blocks sunlight or that creates a shadow would do. Does anyone know if that's possible? I need it for a small modification where I built a roof out of several static objects in the open wasteland. But under the roof, there's always bright daylight, which hasn't got a very realistic feel to it. Can anyone help please? Thanks!
ecksile
the lighting in the game engine doesn't collide with objects it always passes through. What i have seen done to make up for this is making a make shift shadow to be cast on the texture where the shadow should be. but Lighting will never interact that with that shadow and it will always be a dark shadow no matter what light hits it. As I thought... that's a shame. Thanks anyway  the pipboy light does so ge the nif file from it and make it gigantor You mean the pipboy light creates shadows on static objects? Never realised that... But even if I created a "false sun" with it the actual sunlight would still be shining through, won't it?
Cipscis
Light in Fallout 3 is stopped by actors, but nothing else. The pip-boy light might appear to be stopped by static objects because its source is very close to the player's point of view, but it acts just like any other light source. CorrodedSoul
well, think it this way, you can make a static actor (the plane) and put it above(below) your roof... maybe that helps...
Ghogiel
couldn't you use the occlusion planes to simulate this effect.
TotallyNotToastyFresh
Can't believe Bethesda didn't let is have dynamic lighting, it's just fricking pathetic. If it was any game other than Fallout I wouldn't play it with no dynamic lighting, just stupid.
