Major Oblivion Problem

When I took the stone from it's spot at the top of the tower in the first oblivion gate, the game didn't register that I took it. My mission indicator arrow just keeps pointing to the spot the stone was sitting. When I go back down the ramp in that room, the screen goes white and I can only see the environment a very little bit. I can get outside the tower and the video will return to normal, but there is nowhere to go because the game still wants me to get the stone. When in the room where the screen goes white, if I try to exit the game, my pc freezes up. I can alt + tab and see that there's a C++ error window, but it won't come to the front for me to click on it. The only thing I can do is restart the pc. Any ideas?

Have you tried doing this several times? Have you tried clicking the stone in your inventory?

Try ctrl+alt+delete, that shrinks almost all games.

 

Also, try dropping the stone and then picking it up again.

Im having the some problem, and i can't figure out what to do. It's really bad casue i can't progress the story anymore now!
