ThetaOrionis01
Depends on what you mean by Irish music. I think early U2 was fantastic...songs like 'Tomorrow', 'October' and 'Drowning Man', and the Unforgettable Fire album. I think when their music turned trans/midatlantic they lost something - and I haven't listened to them since. And Fairytale of New York is THE best Christmas Song ever....
Maquissar
Early U2? What about New Years Day, or maybe Sunday Bloody Sunday? I love them as well :) Do you happen to know/like/love/worship the Dubliners' version of WHISKEY IN THE JAR? :D
ThetaOrionis01
New Years Day & Sunday Bloody Sunday? Lol, Under A Blood Red Sky must have been one of the first U2 albums I bought! By 'early' I mean up to and including the Unforgettable Fire album. I'm sure I must have heard the Dubliners' version of Whiskey In The Jar....but how about the Thin Lizzy version? :D
Maquissar
Thin Lizzy's version is more rock, whereas the Dubliners' version is more Irish folk-ish... however, I like them both... the version I like least is Metallica's, although I guess it can be considered ok... and I'm not an expert on U2 history, I only know the most famous songs, I guess I'll have to buy some of the earlier CDs :)
