What difficulty do YOU play at?

So, fallout 3 brothers and sisters, i ask you this; What difficulty do you often find yourself playing Fallout 3 on?

Share your stories on the difficulty you play, why you play that difficulty, what you find most easy/difficult about that level of difficulty, and other interesting or relevant stories!

Me personally:

Never played a single second of my over 300 hours, on anything but the maximum difficulty.

It's become so standard and i have become so used to it, that every time i start a new character, i have no trouble at all.

So much so, that i have been looking for some difficulty increasers (still looking, been a bit slack).

I am an opertunist in fallout 3, whatever gets me the farthest and with most benefits is generally the path i'll take. (it's always different).

I love how my fallout 3 experience is different each and every time i play, and it's always fun to do something a little different from time to time.

Least favorite thing: Super mutants. Take clips upon clips to kill, and are just ugly and annoying to bump into.

Most favorite thing: Running into the open, seeing about 10 different factions massacring eachother. (MMM mods and such) It looks like a scene from 300 or something.

How about you guys? :) Share, share, share!!!

I leave Fallout, and almost every other game I play on Normal.

Every once in a while I will play it with mods that make the game more difficult (MMM and the like) since I don't really like the way vanilla hard mode is.

But lately I havn't really felt like playing games for the sake of a challenge. Usually I just want to sit back, relax, and expereince the game, and not worry that much about actually haveing to be good. But really, it all depends on the mood I am in.

The games I like to play on hard difficulty or higher are the ones that make my character more vulnerable that make you have to be extra cautious. I absolutly hate games that the extra hard difficulty just adds extra HP to your enemies and they take 10 shots to the head to kill...

The most recent game I played was Call of Juarez, and I played through the whole thing on easy. Not because it is hard to beat on the higher difficulty, but because I just wanted to casualy go through and actually expereince the beautifully done environment.

But anyways, the point I was trying to make is, playing on hard or easy or whatever doesn't as much reflect your skills as a gamer, but more what kind of expereince you are looking for in a game.

yeah, i agree. I play at max difficulty because i love the caution i have to take. to know that i could be instantly killed at any moment is a thrill. i like the real sense of 'surviving' on fallout 3, thats the main reason why i play it on that difficulty. the harder it is, the more thrill and excitement i get from just surviving some head-on battles.

I played two times on Very Hard, once without any mods or DLC-s and I finished the game and all quests in 30 hours, and once with Anchorage and Broken Steel and I somehow finished all the quests and everything in 23 hours. And I played 4-5 times with cheats and having a flawless, perfect game with best possible karma (also playing on very hard).

Max difficulty gives you too many XP and ironically makes the game *easier* than if you play on Normal (which is the mode I use).

That's pretty much what I was going to say, but I still do play at max difficulty. To try to offset becoming nearly invincible, I try to stick to the style of only having 2 weapons (3 if you count the mezzer as a weapon), and I use MMM, and I never wear heavy armor. I also use a weapons mod that gives everyone access to the same weapons as my characters. Make enough little tweaks and it adds up to a big change ingame.

I used to play on normal difficulty, until i did the whack-a-mole quest, after 30+ mole kills i still hadn't triggered one success. After a few hours of trying to find answers on the net and disabling mods. I realized, i was one shotting them due to my strength. I turned the difficulty up to max and finished the quest. Haven't turned it back down since. I like the fact i can actually die now.

I play a heavily modded FO3, and i love the fact that i have to scan the treeline for enemies before i attempt to cross a clearing / road(i play with tree and grass mods, makes detecting targets more like real life.(ex-army)).

I play as the A-typical sneaky sniper. I have 2 companions from the get go, they provide close in support and cover my behind while i am sniping. I tried to play without them once and got torn to pieces my a molerat while i was engaging 15-20 raiders at range.

Between Fook2 MMM XFO and FWE, the waste is a very dangerous place to be, when on average you can only see 50 feet on flat ground, due to tree's shrubs rocks and long grass.

I don't use vats.

I only carry my sniper rifle and a silenced pistol with a few nades and a couple of mines. One companion carries a SAW while the other has a M4.

I have lost count of the amount of times i have been killed by a lowly raider with a BB gun or Pipe Rifle, but it sure makes it fun when every fight could be your last.

Just for SnG i played the game with no mods the other day. It was so easy i only lasted 15 min before i reinstalled all my mods. Dropping 3 Super Mutants with nothing but a 10mm and a nade, just felt sooo wrong.
