Texture Requests - Sun Sword, Blossom Kite Shield

I was wondering if there are any awesome artists out there willing to try retexturing these two items.

 

I love the sun sword, but sometimes it can look a little bland, since it's basically one simple texture over the whole sword. If anyone is willing to spice it up a bit, that would be awesome! Nothing too fanciful, but something with a little more elegance, like the Ruler's Sword.

 

I like the design of the blossom kite shield, but unfortunately it doesn't go well with most of my setups (visually). If it could have a texture similar to this retexture (http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/415/?) done for the grass crest shield in dark souls 1.

 

These are both popular items and I think a lot of people would enjoy some retextures.

I agree, I like the Sun Sword, but it doesn't look like a Sun Sword. Needs a glorious yellow blade with a red hilt or something. Anything other than that bland steel color...especially for the time it takes to get it.

I have to say that this is an incredibly annoying sword to retexture. The sword's textures are as flat as you'd imagine so it's hard to tell what part of the texture covers what part of the model and what's worse is that they squashed the image. In DS1 the texture had a normal-sized layout where there was no distortion but for some insane reason they squashed them down to a 512x512 when they used to be 1024x512. Luckily i figured out that the textures can be stretched back to their original DS1 dimensions and they still work. So maybe i can have this done sometime soon.

 

 

If you don't want to wait for mine (that is understandable) you can rename Sun Sword mods from DS1 to work with DS2 because they are essentially the same textures.

 

Here are they DS1 to DS2 texture names for the sun sword...

 

(DS1) a2ab2926 -> (DS2) a149b83b = Diffuse Map/ Main texture

(DS1) c96ec540 -> (DS2) e632086d = Normal Map/ Bump Map

(DS1) 712facc5 -> (DS2) 59139780 = Specular Map - This map dictates shininess.

Ran into the same problems trying to retexture the Blue Flame. It's just piss poor and flat to start.

I made a mod for the Sun Sword today, but I don't know if it's really any good. I think it, at least, is an improvement over the original but that doesn't really say much... anyway: http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls2/mods/136/?

It's good. Don't knock yourself. The only thing i'm mad at is you beat me to the punch in realeasing a retex for it. Still working on mine though so i hope you don't mind a little competition. :)

Where do you guys get those texture hashes? GeDoSaTo crashes every time I have texture marking active?

The same thing happens to me with hashes activated. I have to keep it set to false and then look through 1000+ images just to find what i'm trying to find. Luckily for you i gave everyone the file numbers up above a few commants ago. Just do your dump without hashes and look for those. There are only three files.
