hekke
Hi Generally I have no problems with framerates (playing in resolution 1024, x4 AA, all sliders for 90%, shadows off = all time 20-30 fps) but my fps dropto 1-2 !! when I try using some spells, magic weapons or when I am at oblivion gate. When I turn off AA everything is ok but game looks worts than Morrowind, I read it is problem with active lighting (sry I am not guru in technical problems). I tried with all ATI and Omega drivers but nothing helped. Anyone know how can I turn off this option or what should I do to fix this problem ? Athlon 64 3000, 1 GB ram, radeon 9550 128. sry for my bad english :(
Dark0ne
You're running 4x AA with a Radeon 9550? If I'm correct the 9550 is below the 9800, a relatively low card by today's standards. I'd honestly never use AA with a 9800, let alone a card below it.

I'm running the game with a Radeon Saphire 9500 Pro, Athlon 2200+, 1GB RAM, and a pair of 7200 RPM drives. :P My core and memory are overclocked at around 50% each, and I can run the game with AA 4x and force AF 4x with both adaptive and Temporal AA. The only issue I am having is with the damned obsidian gates, they whip me from 35-40 FPS down to 1 or 2  I'm currently messing around with the "Oblivion INI Tweaker" from this very site. Either way, this game looks like ass without AA and bloom lighting on. My advice is to grab the tweaker; *edit; its Oblivion INI (not AI; sorry, one of my other obsessions is with making Bots more fun to play with in Battlefield 2) Tweaker.*Olivion INI Tweaker and disable the Refraction Shader (which apparently has something to do with the portals). suigeneris
disable the Refraction Shader (which apparently has something to do with the portals).I had this same problem with my Sapphire x800GTO. With the Refraction Shader disabled, I don't see any drop in framerate but the spell effects have been replaced with black squares, which really hinders gameplay (I can't see anything for a second while I'm casting the spell!). Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so, have you found a solution?
