ThetaOrionis01
What about a Tavern or Inn - whose drink is that? *grins* If you ever venture into a pub in Glasgow you won't need a red cursor to tell you that it's not a good idea to pick up someone else's pint. ;D And when you go into a guild to which you belong? Which items there can you use, and which are personal belongings? What about a Tavern or Inn - whose drink is that? Can you eat the food in your room? I agree that when going into a shop you'd expect nothing to be free as in beer, but there are other places in the game world whose doors are open. I never found working out what I could and couldn't help myself to a problem in Morrowind. At the same time, I don't understand why these things weren't options. Knowing the player base, I'd have assumed that Bethesda Softworks would have realized that more than a handful of players like The Elder Scrolls for its... ah... "Old School" mentality (I suppose one could phrase it). An options page with "Confirm before selling", "Warn before stealing", etc would have been nice. 'Old School'? Please do elaborate. :P The red cursor, for me, is a clumsy piece of design which makes the game feel less immersive and which, in my opinion contributes towards the 'dumbed down' feel the game has. Like I said - a nanny hovering beside you. When talking about 'dumbing down' you are really talking about personal preferences and perceptions - I'm sure there are many people who are not bothered by the features I so strongly dislike, and equally I am not bothered by some of the aspects of the game others were unhappy with. Suum cuique.
loveme4whoiam
Does the red hand appear if you turn the cursor off? If so, that's rubbish. If not, then there we are. Although, using a bow with the cursor off is bloody hard until you get used to it - much like archery in real life, you need to learn to aim without looking down the arrow. Smart. ThetaOrionis01
Thanks for the tip, loveme4whoIam!! Nanny has been retired as of now ;D I haven't tried to attack anything yet with the crosshairs off, but the game just looks so much better while wandering around town. One gripe down - sadly I doubt that the others will be as easy to fix.
ATHORIEL
Man, when I started this I was in a world of confusion and somewhat dissappointed with the game, but now things are so much better,,LONG LIVE THE MODDERS!! Thanks to those who have helped me tweak the game so some of the things that were bugging me are somewhat abated. IF Bethesda do make expansion to fill in the map I do hope they can get a good balance of what was good about MW and this one. Man, when I started this I was in a world of confusion and somewhat dissappointed with the game, but now things are so much better,,LONG LIVE THE MODDERS!! imahoot
I love this game. But I'm spending a lot more time re-making my character and reading the forums than playing. I need help making my character perfectly.I have a big thing about my character being aesthetically(sp?) pleasing to look at, and for me that means skirts. I hate leggings/pants, which is an issue as I can't wear both.
Domhnall
Yup, they really marketed to the kiddies with Obl. I don't despair since I know legions of Modders will aid things. But, yes, search the official forums and you'll see several varieties of removing the 'GO HERE NOW MORON' flags.
