theatm
So I recently used the program Combo fix as well as CCleaner. I restarted my laptop and went to play fallout 3 but than it told me that the Nexus Mod Manager was missing something and it just wouldn't load up. I uninstalled it and finally got NMM to work. But now, Fallout 3 crashes on start up. I've checked all my mod's and I'm using only the ones I know that work. I ran BOSS and it told me that it couldn't load masterlist or something and gave me a bunch of errors. I've not had a problem running it on my computer seeming as I've already got 23 hours on it but now it won't load up. I am using FOSE but I've tried both the original launcher and the FOSE launcher to no avail. I even verified the Fallout 3 game Cache. Any ideas what's going on? bben46
Ccleaner can remove things that are needed for programs. However I use it and have never had it remove anything needed for NMM or Fallout3.Combo fix comes with a strong warning - My guess is this is what may have caused the problem. You should not run ComboFix unless you are specifically asked to by a helper. Also, due to the power of this tool it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to act upon any of the information displayed by ComboFix without supervision from someone who has been properly trained. If you do so, it may lead to problems with the normal functionality of your computer. It should also be noted that when you run ComboFix it will automatically delete files from the following locations:Windows Recycle BinTemporary Internet FilesTemp FolderIf you store files that you wish to keep in one of these location, it is suggested that you move them to a safer location rather than relying on the above temporary storage locations. You may have to reinstall the game. Any ideas what's going on?Please see this post: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1592053-how-to-ask-for-help/ It was posted in Skyrim, but it applies to all the games. When I load up Fallout 3 from either Nexus Mod Manager, Steam or the directory it's self It crashes. I'm running it on a 5-6 year old Acer Laptop with an ATI Radian HD 3200 Graphics card with 1.9gb of video ram. I don't know my cpu speed, I'm just getting my stuff from Canyourunit which tells me I can run the game... that and I've played 23 hours already with no issues. The game is located in my C:drive in steamapps, common blah blah blah. The usual location for Steam Games. I believe the game version is 1.7, though since it's crashing I can't tell you for sure. I also only have Broken Steel for DLC. I use Nexus Mod Manager and Fallout Script Extender and BOSS. I'd love to post a BOSS mod but when I run boss it tells me that Fallout3 masterlist.txt is missing. But the mods I'm running are in this order Fallout 3.exeAlternate beginningDC interiors combo editionBroken Steel.esmBlack Wolf Backpack patchBlack wolf Backpack replenish scriptBlack wolf backpackWeapon Modkit.esp I removed mods such as Marties Mutties because it couldn't get it to work. I've played 15 hours or so with only these mods so I know they work. At this point I've uninstalled and re-installed both NMM and Fallout 3 completely. I removed all the FOSE files from my Fallout folder and put them back in and tried to launch the FOSE launcher but it crashed. Helpfully this amount of information can help. M48A5
Load order should be: Fallout3.esm (Not .exe) BrokenSteel.esm any other .esm then your .esp All the .esm (Elder Scrolls Master) should load before .esp (Elder Scrolls Plugin).

I removed all the FOSE files from my Fallout folder and put them back in and tried to launch the FOSE launcher but it crashed. Helpfully this amount of information can help. Well, it's a start. How does it crash? On starting the game? Do you get an error message, does it just crash to desktop without warning? Does the game start without any mods enabled? Did you launch the game through Fallout 3's vanilla launcher at least once before trying to launch it through FOSE? And, related to that; did you remove the contents of your "my documents/games/fallout3" folder when you un-installed Fallout 3? If not, delete FALLOUT.ini & FalloutPrefs.ini from that folder, then run the fallout launcher again. an ATI Radian HD 3200 Graphics card with 1.9gb of video ram Actually, the 3200 series graphics chips were never actually used for dedicated graphics cards. Basically, what you have is a graphics chip that's integrated on your laptop's mainboard. As such, it doesn't have any dedicated VRAM either. It just uses system RAM instead. (up to 512 Mb to be precise) Better not set your graphics settings too high.
theatm
Load order should be: Fallout3.esm (Not .exe) BrokenSteel.esm any other .esm then your .esp All the .esm (Elder Scrolls Master) should load before .esp (Elder Scrolls Plugin). I'll attempt to open it and it'll give me a black screen and a spinning blue circle. It will crash to desktop and just tell me that Fallout has crashed and that ti's sending an error report. It crashes no matter what I try, either with mods on or not on. And I've tried every Fallout 3.exe application in the data folder. I found the files mentioned in my documents section but it tells me that the falloutprefs and other file arn't located there anymore... so I don't know what to do in terms of that... And I had no idea about that of my graphics card. I ran the game on low settings except actor and item fade. Thanks for the reply back. PS. how do I change the load order? If not, delete FALLOUT.ini & FalloutPrefs.ini from that folder, then run the fallout launcher again. If this was done and still No go, then you have a permission issue with the game software and the Operating system.Move your "mods" to a new folder of your making elsewhere, uninstall the game Via steam, NOT windows. reinstall the game VIA steam's networks and launch the game from inside steam ,not out side. before attempting to do all of this, delete the "my games folder and all it's saved games as they will no longer work due to the bug you have. 'll attempt to open it and it'll give me a black screen and a spinning blue circle. It will crash to desktop and just tell me that Fallout has crashed and that ti's sending an error report.Steam ? as in active x flash control. Steam uses flash for it's overlay and the system may have deleted it's needed software.update steam first then do this stuff here.kitty
