trold
I just realized the concept armor is from War of the Vikings. http://www.warofthevikings.com/media/screenshots?page=1 Really like the armor designs they use in that game, aswell as in War of the Roses. The combat is just a bit too clunky i feel, compared to M&B Warband. Woltane
Okay, I'm sorry I just recently moved to a new city so I had a good month of inactivity I didn't expect my topic to gain so many answers. To answer some of your questions : Yes the armor itself is from a game call War of the Vikings, the helmet you see is a founder helmet. I really appreciate the concepts as well really good so far but I wasn't really looking for something complicated I would rather have something very simplistic. I have no knowledge in 3D design but I've been doing photoshop webdesign, templates for the last 8 years, I could probably help with the textures. The northman armor is what I currently use with the re-texture for the helmet since there is nothing close or similar on the nexus I came here to ask for this request. I've been a member of this community for a very long time but never much came on the forums asking for help but hopefully someone can help me out with this. The ideal concept armor I'm looking for would be something like this or like the screenshots on the first page. With a chain mail or with a lamellar under armor would be best. I don't know if anyone else in the thread or the OP would agree with this, but it would be nice if the armor is not overly ornate with gold and twiddly bits etc. all over. But rather something that looks practical and worn. Also remember the plates should be overlapping eachother from the top down. Of course your sketch is just an example. Yes the armor has too look practical, worn and not too complicated. Ornament was always on the helmets and not too much on the actual armor they were wearing. The plates have to overlap each other from the top down or from the left. http://oi61.tinypic.com/sq1pog.jpg http://oi58.tinypic.com/ndvr5j.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/4180/mbwarband20110803221753.jpg http://static-1.nexusmods.com/15/mods/191/images/5916-1-1405475127.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7295/8719177639_1a80090962_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7284/8738410196_aa0477d5a1_c.jpg Some of these concepts were taken from Mount & Blade Warband Sacred Stone armor. RalinDrakus
I'm also a huge fan of the historic Vikings and the armor/weapons they created. I've been a little shocked and how few mods I've seen that add truely authentic feeling Norse mods - Viking armors, helmets, weapons, mead halls, villages, towns - half the reason I came to the nexus was to find creations of that sort. There are some weapons, a few well made shields, though most are under powered and used as iron fill-ins or replacers. The Nords have always been my favorite Elder Scrolls race specificlly because of their roots in Viking history and myth. I'm thrilled that Bethesda chose to create Skyrim for ES V and I'm far from disapointed with most the the armors made for the vanilla game, I just hoped that there would be more in the way of historic Viking content by now. I made a similar thread to this myself but it apparently caught so little attention that I can't even find it anymore lol, so if you don't mind reviel I'll drop some similar concepts here: (thanks trold for the link to Early-Middle Ages Helmets - In my own search for Viking themed armors I hadn't seen that one; some amazing work appears to have been done there and I will download that ASAP) http://pneymatiko.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/varangian_guard.jpgThe long Viking tunic is usually what I find lacking with most mods I've looked up. There are a lot of decent shield mods that look good but are usually not of the proper scale - The vikings used shields that were of a very large diameter, almost like those of a Greek Hoplite http://mythologian.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ragnar-lothbrok-pictures.jpgMost Vikings started off with little more than the clothes on their backs and the most basic of protection. Chainmail came from looting the battlefield or gaining wealth from surviving a few raids. The outfits from this picture could be created by simply adding leather jerkins to some of the existing clothing found in the game and would be ideal for the first ten levels of a character. More clothing options for the game with simple knee lenth Nordic tunics and light armor options with leather vests to add diversity and added immersion for the beginning of a new game. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100818181048/mountandblade/images/3/35/Nord_Encounter.pngExactly what I'm looking for http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/86/19/b7/8619b7e0bf409d3a306b3de4016f08db.jpgAnd lets not be forgetting our Shield Maidens
