Illiad86
Just got my 5770 today :) I'm so excited! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...1-317-_-Product I figured I would write up a little review about it. I don't have it installed right now, but I will be momentarily. It came out of evil Wisconsin winter weather, so it has to come to room temperature and we have to apply better thermal grease on it. They always put that cheap "tape" stuff on there. The card itself is a little bit longer than my 7950GT, the cooler is double slot, it's pretty nice looking. I'm not too big of a fan of the plastic housing on it, but I guess it works for airflow. Heh...Everest won't detect my card, guess it's time for a new version...but it runs 37 C idle, load temps to come when I have time to play more. I can't really tell if it's quiet or not because my Northbridge fan overpowers any other noise that any other of my fans produce :P I have to get a new fan for it one of these days or a new heatsink, but the card sits just over it, so I can't get a tall one. Well as for Oblivion 1920x1200HDR8xAAATP texture packsImproved Trees and FloraAll Natural + AWS + NW+ Real Lights no grass, I hate grass, but it only impacts 10 FPS :P But the game runs 60FPS solid anywhere and everywhere. Looks nice in HDR actually now, stopped using it before I started using All Natural. Could easily add QTP3 with the performance I'm getting right now, but I won't ;) I like ATP's textures better. Probably will just go back to Bloom with 8xAA, I like Bloom :P Tomb Raider Underworld 1920x1200 16:10 8x AF8xAAall effects maxed Completely smooth...so beautiful :D I'm a very happy person right now teheheheheh ^_^ I don't have any other graphics intensive games....might get the Crysis SP demo just to really try it out :)

Illiad86
lol how much you pay for that thing? $400+? I just payed $152 for a card that's maybe 20% slower than yours :P
LHammonds
Hmmm...the card says it is CrossfireX capable but the fan design makes me think otherwise. If you had a 3 or 4-way motherboard, seems like you almost have to only use 2 cards because of the fan design. The ATI Radeon HD 5870 that I just bought will work perfectly even if there are 3 cards sitting side-by-side with less than 1 cm between them because the fan acts like a turbine to pull air from the back of the card and push it out of the case. The fan pictured on that site looks like it pulls are from the side of the card and pushes it directly onto the card...and a card sitting right up next to it seems like that would hinder the operation. Curious to know if that is the possible scenario. LHammonds NOTE: I updated your title to be a little more clear about the contents other than just "5770"
Illiad86
Ah, thank you for doing that. :thanks: I was just so excited hehe...Oblivion looks stunning, will put a scrennshot up in the imageshare :) Yeah, it is a bit thick, Crossfire would work better in the situation you mentioned and that is how the fan is designed. But, I don't care much about Crossfire, so it's all good to me. I just can't believe how affordable this is and it's got some power. Turns out my 7950GT used as much power as this and this one is so much faster lol. edit: removed the plastic housing around the card, dumb design. Doesn't help at all with keeping it cool, just makes it hit other components on the MB. The thermal "grease" they put on the chip is very poor, it felt like crayon wax. Put some Arctic Silver on it ;) My boyfriend replaced my NB fan :) The old one finally died after a year of ticking horrendously. Computer is actually sorta quiet :P 80mm fans are loud :( It's taking longer for my computer to POST now...I think it's because of this card. I believe all that would solve it is a BIOS update, which, sadly, there is no update because my motherboard is pretty old now hah. There's a delay of about 5 seconds before it finally beeps and goes on to Windows...everything seems normal though, I just played a game for awhile and no errors or anything. I even went back to stock speed of my CPU (2.6Ghz) and nothing has changed. We thought maybe because of my overclock and the new card was a causing the long POST, so we cleared the CMOS and it still takes the same time. But, now I can keep it stock, because turning back down to this has caused no drop in performance in my games so that's nice :) Runs much cooler now. Here's some pics, sorry for how grainy they are, crappy cell phone camera. Good camera needs new rechargeables http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/p_00148.jpg the card without the plastic housing, much better :D http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/p_00145.jpg and the crayon thermal grease :wallbash: Why do they always put this on every card I get? Does it cost too much to put a drop of quality thermal compound on it or something? Sheesh...
