yea the upgrading part is correct, but the ps3 is ahead of any console right, i mean it uses a power pc cell broadband engine, witch is 8 cores all at 3.2ghz, how i would love to get my hands on one of those baby's for pc :biggrin: :biggrin:

 

But unfortunately they wont be released any time soon :(

Wouldn't do you any good, its architecture differs completely from the normal computer processors. If you still think it'll be 8 times as fast as anything now, try installing Linux on your PS3 and emulating whatever PC game you want, see how it performs.

Remember the old macs, they were the best cpu's back in the day, they used the power pc cpu's, and IBM made them for pc use at one time, so they should be compatible with windows. The cell could be another story though, since its architecture is vastly different from the older power pc cpu's, you never know though. People have been running windows through wine in Linux with the cell so its possible.

 

and there is a Laptop with the cell in it. but i'm not sure if all 8 cores are unlocked on it.

Oh and the 360 also uses a powerpc cpu, witch at one time i thought it used a ibm Xeon, well that pushed it up a notch in my books, but its only 3 compared to the 8.

 

Forgot one thing, in linux it only uses 2 out of the 8 cores, and there is no hardware acceleration only software, but they still managed to run windows ok, it was a little slow since there was no hardware acceleration, but still manageable.

I wonder what exactly that "logic" mentioned in questions might be :) No, don't answer, that's a rhetoric question :) Just imagine the irritation I felt when I passed store shelves containing Bayonetta for PS3 before the New Year and couldn't buy my brother a present just because he made another choice of console :) I'll buy it eventually when it gets released for Xbox, of course, but still... and I think it will be more expensive here. Damn, my salary is not that large.

As Vagrant said, the ps3, just for the blu-ray. If you want to play games get a pc, which will do it better than a console, unless for some reason you actually want a console.
